New Delhi, August 7 – In the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi called on the government to declare the recent landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad a national disaster. Speaking during Zero Hour, Gandhi also demanded higher compensation for those affected.

Emphasizing the severity of the calamity, Gandhi stated, “I saw it with my own eyes. I visited many different places where the disaster took place. In some cases, an entire family is gone, with just one person remaining, sometimes an adult or a child.” He expressed his gratitude to those who assisted during the disaster, acknowledging the efforts of the state governments of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, as well as the central forces and the army in rescue operations.

Gandhi highlighted the tragic impact of the landslides, which have resulted in over 200 deaths and a significant number of people still missing. “The eventual casualty count may exceed 400,” he said. He praised the unity displayed by communities during the crisis, noting, “It is heartening to see all communities coming together to help people, regardless of different ideologies.”

Pointing out that the landslides had severed vital roads, exacerbating the crisis, Gandhi urged the government to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation package, build disaster-resistant infrastructure, and enhance compensation for those affected. “It is a huge tragedy,” he said, emphasizing the need for swift and substantial government intervention.

Milk Tanker Collides with Truck, Driver Killed, Cleaner Injured; People Busy Looting Milk Instead of Helping – Humanity is Dead

0

Ghaziabad :- Despite the human race reaching for the stars and making rapid advancements, it’s tragic that with this progress, humanity is losing its compassion. Videos and news seen on social media reveal a world nearing its end.

These days, social media showcases interactions between different species of animals, highlighting their friendships and the love they share. It’s a stark contrast to how humans have shelved their own humanity, which animals seem to have embraced.

In recent years, after any road accident, people are more inclined to make videos and share them on social media rather than helping the injured. When freight trucks are involved, nearby villagers, passersby, and other vehicle drivers tend to loot the goods from the wrecked trucks instead of aiding the injured drivers and cleaners.

A recent incident in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, has shamed humanity. A milk tanker was rear-ended by a truck, leading to the death of the truck driver and injuries to the cleaner. As milk began to spill from the tanker, people nearby rushed to collect the milk.

Sadly, no one bothered to help the injured cleaner or the deceased driver. Instead, they focused on looting the milk. This incident was captured on video and went viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation of those who, forgetting their humanity, were busy looting milk.

According to police sources, on Monday, a milk tanker was headed to Meerut. Near ABES College on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, a speeding truck rear-ended the tanker, destroying its front end. The truck driver, Prem Sagar (45), died, his body thrown out of the truck, while the cleaner, severely injured, fell to the road, crying for help.

Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered, and seeing the milk spilling from the tanker, they began collecting it using plastic bags, bottles, buckets, and other containers. Regrettably, they did not help the injured cleaner, did not bother to look at the driver’s body, and did not even inform the police.

BRS MLA Vijayudu Arrested After Water Release Dispute in Rajoli

Hyderabad: A heated argument between BRS MLA Vijayudu and former Congress MLA SA Sampath Kumar over the release of water from the Thummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS) led to Vijayudu’s arrest in Rajoli mandal of Alampur constituency on Tuesday.

Incident Summary:

  • Ceremony Dispute: Both Vijayudu and Sampath Kumar were invited to a ceremony to turn on the pumping motors and release water from the Thummilla LIS. Vijayudu arrived first and, questioning the need to wait for the former MLA, switched on the motors before Sampath Kumar arrived.
  • Interruption and Protest: After leaving the site, Vijayudu discovered that the water had not reached the RDS (Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme) canal nearly three hours later. He learned that Sampath Kumar, along with Congress party workers, had turned off the pumps in anger, halting the water flow.
  • Protest and Arrest: Irked by the stoppage of water, Vijayudu returned to the Thummilla LIS with his followers and farmers to stage a sit-in protest, blocking the road. Police intervened and arrested Vijayudu and his followers, leading to tension.

Reactions:

  • BRS Condemnation: The BRS strongly condemned the incident, urging the State government to follow protocol and initiate action against those responsible for the ruckus. BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized the district officials, accusing them of insulting the local MLA and questioning the inclusion of Congress leaders in official meetings. He called for an explanation from Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, asking if protocols in Telangana had been redefined to humiliate elected representatives.

This incident highlights the ongoing political tensions in Telangana, with water management and irrigation schemes being a focal point of contention.

Wanaparthy: In a shocking incident, a house owner in Janampet village, under Srirangapur mandal, discovered a crocodile near his bathroom early Tuesday morning.

Rescue Operation: The forest officials, in collaboration with Sagar Snake Society volunteers, successfully trapped the crocodile after a five-hour rescue operation and released it into the River Krishna at Beechupally.

Discovery: Around 3:45 am, Naganna, the house owner, was awakened by the persistent barking of street dogs. He found the crocodile, which likely entered from the nearby Ramasamudram rivulet, driven into the house by stray dogs.

Response: Naganna immediately called 108, which alerted the forest officials and Sagar Snake Society. Beat constable Ramesh, along with a team led by Krishna Sagar, a Home Guard and founder of the Sagar Snake Society, arrived at the scene.

Rescue Details: The team first covered the crocodile’s snout with a cloth to block its visibility and then tied it with a rope to prevent any attacks. The crocodile was then transported in a gram panchayat tractor and released into the river.

Seasonal Influx: Krishna Sagar explained that during the monsoon, the downstream flow of the River Krishna through the Almatti and Narayanpur projects in Karnataka sweeps about 300 to 400 crocodiles into the agricultural fields of villages in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Spotted deer and blackbucks also appear in large numbers during this period as water levels rise.
