Arvind Kejriwal Arrest Updates: ED Takes Kejriwal to Agency’s Office in Central Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal found himself in the clutches of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the night of March 21 in connection with an Excise policy-linked money laundering case. The unprecedented arrest, marking the first instance of a sitting Chief Minister being apprehended, unfolded shortly after the Delhi High Court’s refusal to extend protection to Mr. Kejriwal from any coercive actions by the agency.

The 55-year-old leader’s detention, amidst the fervor of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, triggered sharp reactions from his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party staunchly affirmed Mr. Kejriwal’s continuation as Delhi’s chief minister, asserting his ability to govern even from behind bars if necessary. However, the BJP wasted no time in calling for Mr. Kejriwal’s resignation on moral grounds.

In a scathing critique, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, lambasted the NDA government, alleging an undeclared emergency in the country. He accused the BJP of leveraging investigative agencies and constitutional institutions to suppress opposition voices, thereby undermining democratic principles.

Expressing solidarity with Kejriwal’s government, Yadav reiterated his commitment to standing firm against authoritarian tactics, declaring, “We are not the ones who are afraid but are the ones who fight and win,” echoing sentiments voiced openly in Patna and Mumbai.

Additionally, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal took to Twitter to mock the situation, stating, “The Mother of Democracy has demonstrated that ED is its most obedient ‘son’!” Meanwhile, Congress leader Surendra Rajput (@ssrajputINC) condemned Kejriwal’s arrest, questioning the BJP’s use of investigative agencies like the ED and CBI for electoral gains.

As the political storm intensifies, Kejriwal’s arrest underscores the deepening divide between the ruling party and the opposition, raising concerns about the sanctity of democratic processes in the country. Stay tuned for further developments on this unfolding saga.

New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with its probe into a money laundering case. The arrest follows the Delhi High Court’s refusal to entertain Kejriwal’s application for interim relief, seeking protection from coercive action by the ED in the excise policy case.

Kejriwal was apprehended from his official residence shortly after the high court declined to pass any orders on his plea for “no coercive action” by the ED. The court’s decision came as a blow to Kejriwal’s legal team, who had sought relief in the face of ED summons and challenged certain provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

“At this stage, we are not inclined to pass such an order,” remarked the court, paving the way for Kejriwal’s arrest. The AAP leaders have decried the move, alleging it was orchestrated to prevent the chief minister from seeking recourse in the Supreme Court following the high court’s decision.

The arrest of Kejriwal, a prominent figure in Indian politics, is expected to escalate tensions between the ruling AAP and the central investigative agency. The unfolding developments are likely to spark debates surrounding the autonomy of law enforcement agencies and the broader political implications of Kejriwal’s case.

Statement from Delhi Minister Atishi on ED’s Arrival at CM Arvind Kejriwal’s Residence:

Delhi Minister Atishi (@AtishiAAP) criticized the timing of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) arrival at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, stating, “Within an hour of the court issuing notice, they (ED) arrived at the residence of Arvind Kejriwal. This shows that today, the ED is not an independent investigative agency. It is a political weapon of the BJP.”

Breaking News: ED Team Questions Kejriwal Amid Fears of Arrest

0

New Delhi: A tense situation unfolded today as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team arrived at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in North Delhi’s Civil Lines. The development comes in the wake of the Delhi High Court’s denial of protection to CM Kejriwal from coercive action in an excise policy case earlier today.

Amid apprehensions within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed concerns, stating, “There are clear signs that a raid is underway at the residence, and he (Kejriwal) might be arrested.”

Kejriwal, who has been summoned for the ninth time by the ED in connection to the excise policy case, has moved to the Supreme Court against the high court’s order. The refusal of interim protection by the high court has intensified the legal battle, with the matter slated for further consideration on April 22.

Reacting to the situation, AAP leader Raghav Chaddha alleged a larger conspiracy, stating, “Just before the Lok Sabha elections, a big conspiracy is going on to arrest Arvind Kejriwal ji.”

As ED officials descended on Kejriwal’s residence, security was beefed up with the deployment of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) units alongside Delhi Police personnel. Barricades were erected, and additional police forces were stationed in the vicinity.

The developments sparked outrage among AAP leaders, with Atishi accusing the ED of being politically motivated. “Without waiting for the decision of the court, ED has arrived to arrest Arvind Kejriwal. This is a conspiracy to arrest Arvind Kejriwal,” Atishi asserted.

Opposition leaders have voiced strong condemnation against the Enforcement Directorate’s actions targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Terming it as political vendetta, several opposition parties have criticized the timing of the ED’s move, alleging it to be an attempt to destabilize the AAP government ahead of crucial elections.

Leaders from various political outfits have rallied behind Kejriwal, emphasizing the need for fair and unbiased investigations rather than politically motivated maneuvers. The developments have added fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding the autonomy of investigative agencies and their alleged misuse for partisan purposes.

As the controversy deepens, political tensions are on the rise, setting the stage for a broader confrontation between the ruling dispensation and the opposition. The matter is likely to resonate in the corridors of power and beyond in the coming days.

Hyderabad: Reports are circulating regarding the potential candidacy of a teacher from the tribal community for the Adilabad Lok Sabha seat. Athram Suguna, a teacher at a government school in Jainoor mandal on contract, has emerged as a leading contender for the seat.

Sources suggest that Suguna’s name has gained traction following purported phone calls from the party’s State leadership, indicating the clearance of her candidacy. She has actively campaigned in various areas of the constituency, representing the Congress party. Suguna enjoys the support of Minister Seethakka, further bolstering her prospects.

However, uncertainties persist, as similar reports have surfaced regarding other aspirants in the past. Notably, Suguna and her husband, Athram Bhujanga Rao, have previously faced legal scrutiny. Lightning Strike at Burj Khalifa Resembles Palestine Map, Sparks Social Media Debate

“Wake up Arab, Wake up”

Dubai: In the midst of the enduring Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a remarkable natural occurrence has stirred emotions and sparked debate on social media platforms. The lightning strike, captured at the iconic Burj Khalifa by Dubai-based photographer Zohaib Anjum, bears a striking resemblance to the map of Palestine.

As the conflict persists, with Israel’s relentless attacks on Palestinian territories following the October 7, 2023, Hamas strike, the international community continues to call for an end to the violence and the facilitation of aid to the affected regions. However, Israel’s refusal to heed these calls has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, leading to a mounting death toll among Palestinian civilians.

Amid this backdrop of turmoil and suffering, Anjum’s footage of the lightning strike has captured global attention, garnering nearly 12 million views on social media platforms. The image has triggered fervent discussions, with some interpreting it as a divine message urging intervention in the ongoing conflict.

While the emotional resonance of the lightning strike’s resemblance to the map of Palestine is palpable, experts caution against attributing religious significance to natural phenomena. Mansoor Ahmed, an activist from the Chenab Valley, highlights the symbolism inherent in the lightning strike, drawing parallels between the power of nature and the plight of the Palestinians.

Despite the video’s authenticity remaining unverified, its impact on social media has been profound, resonating deeply with many Muslims who see the struggle of Palestinians as a shared cause. The symbolism of the lightning strike against the backdrop of Burj Khalifa, a symbol of Arab ambition and progress, serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing quest for peace in the region amidst escalating tensions.

As the Israeli-Palestinian conflict enters a particularly tumultuous phase, the lightning strike on the world’s tallest building serves as a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness between natural phenomena and human affairs, prompting reflection and dialogue on the pressing issues facing the Middle East.

Hyderabad, March 18, 2024 – Former MLA Shakeel finds himself at the center of a renewed investigation as the police reopen a hit and run case from two years ago. The case, which unfolded on March 17, 2022, involved a tragic incident where a car struck a two-year-old boy crossing Jubilee Hills Road No. 45, resulting in the child’s death and injuries to two others.

Shockwaves rippled through the community as suspicions arose regarding the vehicle’s ownership, allegedly belonging to Shakeel. Despite initial findings linking the car to Shakeel, registered under the name of Meera Infra, no action was taken against him at the time.

Former IPS Officer Praveen Kumar Joins Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)

0

Hyderabad, March 18, 2024 – In a significant political development, former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar, who recently resigned as Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Telangana unit President, has officially joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Praveen Kumar, accompanied by a multitude of supporters, made his formal entry into the BRS fold in the presence of party President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the latter’s farmhouse in Erravelli, Siddipet district.

The transition sees about 35 state-level leaders and 50 district-level leaders from BSP crossing over to the BRS alongside Praveen Kumar. Shedding light on his departure from the BSP, Praveen Kumar revealed that pressure from the BJP led BSP chief Mayawati to urge him to sever ties with the BRS for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. However, steadfast in his commitment, he chose to resign from the party instead, citing alignment with the principles espoused by the BRS leadership.

The BRS, in a conciliatory gesture, had earlier agreed to allocate two Lok Sabha seats, Nagarkurnool and Hyderabad, to the BSP following negotiations with the party’s national-level leadership on March 15. Notably, Praveen Kumar had been named as the BSP’s candidate from Nagarkurnool. However, his abrupt departure from the BSP the following day reshaped the political landscape, with the former IPS officer emphasizing his alignment with the BRS’s vision for Telangana’s progress.

Reflecting on his decision, Praveen Kumar asserted his lack of vested interests in joining the BRS, emphasizing a commitment to public service over political opportunism. Declining offers from other political entities, including the Congress and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he reiterated his dedication to the Bahujan ideology and his resolve to contribute to Telangana’s reconstruction.

“I am driven by the Bahujan ideology, and I will remain committed to honesty and continue to fight for people’s welfare,” affirmed Praveen Kumar, underscoring his unwavering dedication to his principles and the broader interests of Telangana’s populace.
