Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a massive rally in Salem, Western Tamil Nadu, today as part of his rapid tour across southern states. With over 5,000 police personnel deployed and a five-layer security arrangement in place, stringent measures have been taken to ensure the event’s safety.
Following a vibrant roadshow in Palakkad, Kerala, earlier today, the PM will arrive in Salem amidst tight security protocols. Notably, PMK founder leader Dr. S Ramadoss will be present at the rally, marking a significant political alliance between the BJP and PMK. The PMK has been allocated ten seats in Tamil Nadu as part of this electoral understanding, solidifying their partnership.
Salem holds particular significance as the hometown of AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS). Given the history of alliances and recent political shifts, there is anticipation about whether the PM will address the AIADMK’s stance, especially considering the recent estrangement between the BJP and the AIADMK.
