Hyderabad: Reports are circulating regarding the potential candidacy of a teacher from the tribal community for the Adilabad Lok Sabha seat. Athram Suguna, a teacher at a government school in Jainoor mandal on contract, has emerged as a leading contender for the seat.
Sources suggest that Suguna’s name has gained traction following purported phone calls from the party’s State leadership, indicating the clearance of her candidacy. She has actively campaigned in various areas of the constituency, representing the Congress party. Suguna enjoys the support of Minister Seethakka, further bolstering her prospects.
However, uncertainties persist, as similar reports have surfaced regarding other aspirants in the past. Notably, Suguna and her husband, Athram Bhujanga Rao, have previously faced legal scrutiny. In 2020, they were among several individuals booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for alleged connections to Maoist sympathizers.
Suguna’s potential candidacy has brought attention to the tribal representation in Adilabad, highlighting the complexities of political dynamics in the region.
