Hyderabad, March 18, 2024 – In a significant political development, former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar, who recently resigned as Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Telangana unit President, has officially joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Praveen Kumar, accompanied by a multitude of supporters, made his formal entry into the BRS fold in the presence of party President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the latter’s farmhouse in Erravelli, Siddipet district.

The transition sees about 35 state-level leaders and 50 district-level leaders from BSP crossing over to the BRS alongside Praveen Kumar. Shedding light on his departure from the BSP, Praveen Kumar revealed that pressure from the BJP led BSP chief Mayawati to urge him to sever ties with the BRS for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. However, steadfast in his commitment, he chose to resign from the party instead, citing alignment with the principles espoused by the BRS leadership.

The BRS, in a conciliatory gesture, had earlier agreed to allocate two Lok Sabha seats, Nagarkurnool and Hyderabad, to the BSP following negotiations with the party’s national-level leadership on March 15. Notably, Praveen Kumar had been named as the BSP’s candidate from Nagarkurnool. However, his abrupt departure from the BSP the following day reshaped the political landscape, with the former IPS officer emphasizing his alignment with the BRS’s vision for Telangana’s progress.

Reflecting on his decision, Praveen Kumar asserted his lack of vested interests in joining the BRS, emphasizing a commitment to public service over political opportunism. Declining offers from other political entities, including the Congress and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he reiterated his dedication to the Bahujan ideology and his resolve to contribute to Telangana’s reconstruction.

“I am driven by the Bahujan ideology, and I will remain committed to honesty and continue to fight for people’s welfare,” affirmed Praveen Kumar, underscoring his unwavering dedication to his principles and the broader interests of Telangana’s populace.
