Hyderabad, November 2024: In a recent case of cyber fraud, a Hyderabad resident lost Rs 1.18 lakh after falling victim to a scam involving an APK file sent via WhatsApp. The victim received a phone call from a fraudster claiming to be from a bank, offering to increase his credit card limit. To process the application, the caller asked him to install an APK file sent to his phone. After installing the file, the victim noticed an unauthorized debit of Rs 1,18,196 from his bank account.

Upon realizing the fraud, the victim immediately reported the incident to the National Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) helpline at 1930. Cybercrime officials began investigating and found that the stolen amount had been used to make purchases on an e-commerce platform. Acting promptly, police reached out to the merchant company, and the transaction was reversed, leading to a refund of the full amount to the victim.

Recent Cyber Fraud Cases in Hyderabad:

  1. October 30, 2024: A woman lost Rs 2.5 lakh after scammers accessed her account via a similar APK file scam, promising rewards for survey participation. The victim installed the file and discovered unauthorized debits from her account shortly after.
  2. October 10, 2024: A businessman reported losing Rs 3 lakh to cybercriminals who tricked him into installing a fake banking app, allowing them to remotely control his phone and transfer money.
  3. September 20, 2024: A software engineer lost Rs 75,000 when he was asked to update his KYC information through a fraudulent link, resulting in multiple unauthorized transactions from his account.
  4. August 28, 2024: A Hyderabad-based trader was scammed out of Rs 1.5 lakh by fraudsters impersonating telecom company representatives. They convinced him to download an app for mobile verification, which led to unauthorized debits from his bank account.

Cybercrime officials have repeatedly advised the public against downloading APK files or sharing personal and financial details with unknown callers. The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police Department is intensifying efforts to prevent such incidents by raising awareness and implementing strict monitoring mechanisms on reported cyber fraud cases.

On the morning of November 11, 2011, I planned to visit the Dargah of Hazrat Ajmer Sharif with my family. However, on the night of November 10, I received a call from Digvijay Singh, who informed me that Rahul Gandhi wanted to meet the next morning at 11:00 AM. I requested to schedule the meeting after my return from Ajmer, but he insisted, emphasizing the importance of this meeting. As a result, our travel plans were adjusted, and we departed after the meeting.

In this hour-long meeting, Rahul Gandhi expressed his desire for Sahara Urdu, Sahara India Pariwar, and Aziz Burney to continue supporting them in the future, just as they had during the 2009 Parliamentary elections. I replied that he would need to discuss this with Sahara Sri. Rahul then instructed Digvijay Singh to arrange the conversation and set a meeting. Digvijay Singh contacted Sahara Sri, and it was agreed that he would visit Lucknow on November 16 to convey the details of this meeting and arrange a joint discussion.

This news was unsettling for the Congress party, especially for Ahmed Patel, as he viewed it as a challenge to his authority within the government and the party. And thus began the series of events that led to the downfall of Sahara India Pariwar and Sahara Sri. While the meeting between Sahara Sri and Digvijay Singh took place on November 16 in Lucknow, the story of Sahara Sri’s and Aziz Burney’s downfall had already been written.

Just seven days after the meeting at Rahul Gandhi’s residence, on November 18, Aziz Burney was transferred from Sahara Urdu. Simultaneously, Sahara India Pariwar and Sahara Sri faced tightening restrictions, the result of which is now evident to all—Sahara Sri imprisoned, and Sahara India Pariwar, once one of India’s largest corporations, in ruins.

I have documented these details in my autobiography in both Urdu and English. Before this, I also chronicled Ahmed Patel’s life in my newspaper, Aziz Al-Hind. The book provides a chronological account of these events.

The Urdu Journalists Welfare Association of Warangal organized an event on 12th November 2024 at Golden Guest House, LB Nagar, Warangal, to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The occasion was marked as National Education Day and Minority Welfare Day.

The program was presided over by Mr. Mohammad Qadeer Mohiuddin, NRI, with distinguished guests Dr. Mohammad Bahadur Ali, former Principal of Islamic Degree College, Warangal, and Dr. Mir Kokab Ali, Principal of Islamic Degree and PG College, Warangal.

The event commenced with a Quranic recitation by Hafiz Mohammad Sadiq Hussain, followed by a Hamd-e-Bari Taala performance by Mohammad Hamed Hussain Hamed.

Dr. Mir Kokab Ali, in his address, illuminated Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s contributions to religious, political, social, and cultural fields. He emphasized the importance of Maulana Azad’s vision, highlighting the pressing need for today’s youth to embody his thoughts and values.

Dr. Mohammad Bahadur Ali gave an insightful speech, shedding light on lesser-known aspects of Maulana Azad’s life and work. Dr. Bahadur Ali also reflected on Maulana Azad’s resilience in the face of societal upheavals following India’s partition. The audience gained valuable knowledge from the speeches, deepening their understanding of Maulana Azad’s legacy.

During the event, Mohammad Akbar Zia briefly explained the objectives and purpose of establishing the Urdu Journalists Welfare Association, Warangal.
