Hyderabad: The 555th Prakash Utsav (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the revered founder of Sikhism and first Sikh Guru, was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm across Telangana. The grand event brought together thousands of devotees and people from diverse faiths, highlighting the spirit of communal harmony and unity.
The main celebration, Vishaal Deewan (Mass Congregation), took place at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, Hyderabad. Organized jointly by the Prabandhak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Ashok Bazar, the event attracted over 25,000 devotees. The program included soulful Gurbani Keertans (spiritual hymns), prayers to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and the serving of the traditional Guru-Ka-Langar (community kitchen).
Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Speakers and preachers at the event emphasized the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, focusing on values such as unity, peace, equality, and service to humanity. His universal message of Ek Onkar—”One Supreme Reality”—and principles of selflessness, humility, and truth were underscored as essential values for today’s world.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s extensive travels across regions to spread his message of inclusivity and mindfulness were also highlighted. His teachings continue to inspire millions, urging people to live with integrity and work towards social justice and the betterment of society.
Langar: A Symbol of Unity and Equality
Following the congregation, the traditional Guru-Ka-Langar was served, reinforcing the Sikh principles of equality and service. Attendees, irrespective of caste, creed, or social status, shared a meal together, symbolizing unity and mutual respect.
The Prakash Utsav celebrations were a vibrant tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life and philosophy, leaving devotees and participants inspired to uphold his timeless values of harmony, service, and devotion.
