Watch: Tiger Spotted Crossing Railway Tracks in Maharashtra, Video Goes Viral in Telangana

0

Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Dec 18: A tiger was filmed crossing railway tracks in broad daylight at Makodi village in Rajura Taluq of Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, about 12 kilometers from Sirpur (T) town in Telangana. The video, recorded by a local resident, quickly went viral on social media platforms in Telangana, drawing widespread attention to the region’s frequent tiger sightings.

Frequent Tiger Sightings in the Region

The railway tracks at Makodi village pass through a section of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), one of India’s prominent tiger habitats. Tigers often traverse these tracks while migrating to forests in Telangana. Locals explained that this movement peaks during winter as tigers from TATR search for new territories and mating partners in the forests of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.

While some tigers settle in the region to raise their cubs, others have been involved in attacks on humans, heightening concerns among local communities.

Recent Tiger Attacks in Telangana

The region has witnessed several tiger-related incidents over the years:

  • November 2024: A tiger killed 21-year-old farm laborer Morle Lakshmi at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal on November 29. A day later, it attacked Rauthu Suresh at Dubbagudem village in Sirpur (T) mandal, leaving the community in panic.
  • January 2023: A tiger mauled two farmers, Chandru and Rajesh, near the Dahegaon forests while they were returning from their fields. Both sustained serious injuries.
  • December 2022: A tiger was sighted near the Rebbena forest area, and a local herder reported losing cattle to the predator. The incident prompted forest officials to issue advisories for villagers to avoid forested areas after dark.

These recurring tiger sightings and incidents have become a part of life for residents in the forest fringe villages.

Forest Department’s Measures

In response to these events, forest officials have intensified monitoring and awareness campaigns. Over 50 CCTV cameras have been installed across key areas to track tiger movements and ensure public safety. Villagers are being educated on precautions to minimize human-animal conflict, including avoiding isolated areas and traveling in groups near tiger habitats.

The viral video has reignited discussions about the delicate balance between wildlife conservation and human safety in these regions. Officials emphasized the importance of coexistence and the need for proactive measures to safeguard both tigers and residents.

Telangana CM Leads ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ Protest Over Adani Issue

0

Hyderabad, Dec 18: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy led the Congress’ ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ protest in Hyderabad on Wednesday, highlighting allegations against industrialist Gautam Adani and criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly shielding him. The protest, organized as part of a nationwide campaign by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), witnessed a massive turnout of Congress leaders and workers.

Speaking at the rally, CM Reddy accused the Prime Minister of protecting Adani, who has been named in a U.S. court under the Foreign Corruption Practice Act. “America has initiated action against Adani, but Modi refuses to act in India. This inaction has tarnished the country’s reputation,” he said.

The chief minister emphasized that the Congress government in Telangana is prepared to pass a resolution in the Assembly, demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue, provided the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supports it.

Demands for JPC Investigation

CM Reddy, along with Congress leaders, urged the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman to allow a debate on the Adani issue and to appoint a JPC. “The Prime Minister has pressured the parliamentary leadership to avoid discussions or form a JPC. This is to protect his special friend,” Reddy alleged.

He warned that the Congress would escalate the protest if their demands were not met. “If the JPC is not constituted, we will organize a ‘dharna’ in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan,” Reddy announced.

BRS Criticized for Silence

The Chief Minister also criticized the BRS, accusing them of aligning with the BJP to avoid “arrests” and remaining silent on the Adani controversy. “The BRS mocks us for protesting while in power, but they have surrendered to the BJP,” Reddy charged.

Protest Highlights

The demonstration began at the Indira Gandhi statue near Hussain Sagar Lake and culminated at Raj Bhavan. CM Reddy, holding a placard, joined other Congress leaders, including AICC Telangana in-charge Deepa Dasmunsi and TPCC President B Mahesh Kumar Goud. Protesters raised slogans against Modi, condemning his alleged inaction on both the Adani issue and the ongoing violence in Manipur.

Broader Context

The protest also targeted the Prime Minister for his failure to visit Manipur, where violence erupted over a year ago. “The Congress is protesting through democratic means, but Modi continues to shield Adani, knowing he could end up in Tihar jail if a JPC probe is ordered,” Reddy claimed.

The rally was marked by placards, slogans, and a sit-in near Raj Bhavan, showcasing the Congress’ determination to pursue accountability in the Adani matter.

MBT Condemns Attack on Masjid-e-Kareem, Demands Strong Action Against Culprits

0

Hyderabad: The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has strongly condemned the attack on Masjid-e-Kareem in Nagaram, Nizamabad, and the desecration of the Holy Quran, urging the Telangana government to take stern action against the perpetrators. Amjed Ullah Khan, the spokesman for MBT, expressed outrage over the incident, which he claimed hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims in the region.

Khan revealed that on the morning of the incident, Mohammed Abdul Sarwar, the Mutawalli (caretaker) of Masjid-e-Kareem, arrived to open the mosque for Fajr prayers and discovered that the lock of the mosque had been broken. Upon entering, he was shocked to find torn copies of the Quran scattered on the floor and the mosque’s sound system damaged. The Mutawalli promptly reported the matter to the local police, who registered an FIR under theft, though Khan emphasized that the incident was far more serious.

“This is the 25th attack on Muslims or their institutions since the Congress-led government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, took office,” Khan pointed out. He criticized the inaction of the Telangana police, stating that they have remained silent spectators in all such incidents and failed to make arrests. Khan expressed concern that the Nagaram incident would likely be dismissed as a mere theft, but insisted that it was an orchestrated attempt to create communal tension.

He further claimed that Hindutva elements were targeting mosques and dargahs in remote areas of Telangana, aiming to sow division between communities. Khan also expressed disappointment over the silence of Mohammed Ali Shabbir, a contested candidate for the Nizamabad Assembly seat and advisor to the Chief Minister on Minority Affairs. Despite the incident occurring in Nizamabad, Shabbir Ali has yet to visit the site or address the issue.

MBT continues to demand urgent and decisive action from the state government to ensure the safety and security of Muslim institutions in Telangana.

BRS Leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail Accuses CM Revanth Reddy of Silence Amid Rising Communal Incidents

0

Hyderabad: BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail has leveled serious allegations against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of remaining silent in the face of rising communal tensions in the state. Highlighting recent incidents, Sohail claimed that the inaction of the CM is emboldening miscreants and threatening Telangana’s cherished Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (composite culture).

In a statement released through a video, Shaik Abdullah Sohail brought attention to two specific incidents. He alleged that a minaret of an Eidgah in Ibrahimpatnam Mandal of Jagtial district was damaged, and a mosque in Nizamabad was vandalized after its lock was broken. These acts, he said, reflect a growing disregard for the rule of law among communal elements.

“Revanth Reddy’s silence is giving courage to such miscreants, who no longer fear the law,” Sohail said. He warned that if the police do not take immediate and strict action, there is a risk of further communal unrest targeting Muslims in the coming days.

Shaik Abdullah Sohail also emphasized the need for swift and decisive measures to protect religious places and uphold communal harmony in the state.

Hyderabad Sees Surge in Colds, Coughs, and Asthma Cases Amid Temperature Drop

0

Hyderabad: The recent dip in temperatures across Hyderabad and neighboring districts has led to a significant increase in cases of upper respiratory tract infections, particularly influenza, over the past week. Medical facilities, including private nursing homes, clinics, Basthi Dawakhanas, and outpatient wings of tertiary hospitals like Fever Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, and Osmania General Hospital (OGH), have reported a steady influx of seasonal flu cases.

Healthcare professionals have noted that patients typically present with symptoms such as fever—sometimes high—body aches, headaches, fatigue, nasal congestion, and lethargy. In addition to viral fevers, the colder weather has also aggravated asthma cases among chronic patients.

According to the Allergy and Asthma Network of India (AANI), winters contribute to a 40% surge in allergies and asthma cases, most of which are linked to upper respiratory tract infections. “During winter, the airways of the lungs tighten, leading to unpredictable and aggressive asthma attacks. Data also shows that house dust mites and molds are common triggers during this season,” explained Dr. Vyakaranam Nageshwar, CEO of AANI and an allergy specialist.

General practitioners and family physicians in private clinics have also observed a 50-60% increase in respiratory infections this season. The most frequent complaints include cold, cough, fever, and shortness of breath.

Doctors have advised individuals with co-morbid conditions, such as chronic heart disease, kidney ailments, liver issues, and hypertension, to consider vaccinations under medical supervision to mitigate risks associated with these infections.

As the winter progresses, residents are urged to take preventive measures to safeguard their health during this season of heightened respiratory ailments.

Group-II Exam Turns Heartbreaking for Latecomers in Telangana

0

Hyderabad: Several candidates faced disappointment as they were denied entry into exam centers for the Group-II services recruitment examination, which began across Telangana on Sunday. The strict adherence to time protocols by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) became a significant hurdle for candidates who arrived just a minute late.

The TGPSC scheduled Paper-I of the Group-II recruitment exam from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, requiring candidates to reach their designated centers at least one-and-a-half hours in advance. Gates were closed sharply at 9:30 am, as per instructions. However, several aspirants who arrived after the cut-off time found themselves barred from entry, despite fervent appeals to center officials.

One of the candidates, who arrived five minutes late, personally appealed to TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham, who was present at a center in Hyderabad to oversee the examination process. The aspirant pleaded for a chance to appear, citing years of hard work and preparation.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appear for the recruitment examination,” the candidate expressed emotionally. However, Chairman Venkatesham reiterated the rules, stating, “The TGPSC had clearly informed candidates that gates would close 30 minutes before the exam. Rules are in place to ensure smooth conduct.”

The second session, Paper-II, is scheduled from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with entry gates closing at 1:30 pm. On Monday, Papers-III and IV will be held in two sessions — 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, respectively.

This recruitment drive has drawn significant attention, with 5,51,847 candidates registered to compete for 783 Group-II vacancies notified by the TGPSC. Despite the heartbreak for some, the commission has emphasized the importance of punctuality and adherence to guidelines for the smooth execution of the examination process.

TPCC President on Allu Arjun’s Arrest: “All Are Equal Before the Law”

0

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud emphasized on Saturday that no one is above the law, addressing the recent arrest of Tollywood actor Allu Arjun. He stated that the police had acted within the framework of the law while taking action against the actor.

Speaking to media persons, Goud clarified that the Congress government harbored no personal vendetta against Allu Arjun. The actor was arrested in connection with the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at a theatre. “The Congress government does not hold grudges against any actor. The action was taken strictly as per legal protocols,” he said.

Highlighting Congress’s past contributions, Goud added, “It was the Congress government that played a pivotal role in relocating the Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad.” He also mentioned that financial irregularities linked to the Formula E-race event in the past had come under scrutiny.

When questioned about allegations against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, Goud asserted that if any irregularities were proven, the law would take its course.

Meanwhile, Khairathabad MLA Danam Nagender expressed regret over the arrest of Allu Arjun, describing it as a painful and unfortunate incident. “It is a relief that the High Court granted bail to Allu Arjun, who is not only a celebrated actor but also a national award winner,” Nagender remarked.

The case has sparked significant debate, drawing attention to the equal application of the law, irrespective of a person’s stature or profession.

Hyderabad Police Issues Strict Guidelines for New Year’s Eve Celebrations

“Strict New Year Guidelines Issued: No Obscenity, Drugs, or Loud Music – CV Anand IPS”

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police have rolled out stringent guidelines for New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city, emphasizing decency, safety, and adherence to the law. The rules explicitly prohibit obscenity, nudity, drugs, and loud music at events. Organizers have been warned of strict action if found violating these directives.

The guidelines mandate that event organizers ensure decency in apparel, dance performances, gestures, and language during the celebrations. The police have also called for vigilance against the sale and use of narcotic substances at venues, warning that managements failing to comply will face legal consequences.

“No person should be allowed to use drugs or psychotropic substances. If managements fail to prevent such activities, they will be held accountable and face action as per the law,” stated Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand. He also urged organizers to pay special attention to parking areas and other secluded spots where drugs are often traded.

To promote safety, the concept of a “designated driver” has been highlighted. Event organizers must educate customers about appointing a sober driver to ensure safe transit for co-passengers. This message is to be prominently displayed at venues.

Minors are strictly prohibited from attending events meant for couples or being allowed into pubs and bars. Additionally, the guidelines stress maintaining sound levels below 45 decibels to prevent noise pollution. Surveillance cameras with recording facilities are to be installed, and sufficient security personnel must be deployed to manage crowds and traffic.

The police have also placed the onus on pubs and bars to arrange cabs or drivers for intoxicated customers to curb drunk driving. The guidelines emphasize that failing to provide such facilities could lead to legal accountability.

Hyderabad police are determined to ensure a safe and disciplined celebration for New Year’s Eve, urging organizers and attendees alike to comply with the rules for the smooth conduct of events.

Leopard Sighting in Medak: Teacher Encounters Big Cat on His Way to School

0

Medak: A teacher had a close encounter with a leopard while riding his bike to school near Gajireddipally village in Havelighanpur mandal on Friday morning. The teacher, shocked to see the leopard crossing the road just a few meters away, stopped his bike. Despite the close proximity, the leopard remained calm, crossed the road, and showed no signs of aggression.

Out of caution, the teacher reversed his bike a few meters and joined other road users heading in the same direction. Upon reaching the school, he immediately informed the villagers about the sighting. The news spread quickly, and local residents alerted the forest officials.

The village, located on the edge of the Pocharam forest area, has seen several similar incidents in recent months. Villagers reported multiple sightings of leopards in and around the village. This isn’t the first time that the region has experienced such encounters. In previous months, residents in nearby villages had reported leopards venturing into human settlements, often in search of food or shelter.

One such incident occurred earlier this year when a leopard was seen roaming near a farm in the neighboring village of Peddapur. Villagers had to take precautions, avoiding the area after dusk until the forest officials were able to track the animal. In another case, a leopard was sighted near the local irrigation tank, with residents expressing concerns over their safety.

Forest officials have since assured the villagers that they are monitoring the situation closely. They have also advised people to stay alert and report any further sightings to authorities. The increasing frequency of leopard sightings has raised concerns about the growing overlap between human settlements and wildlife habitats, as urban expansion and deforestation encroach on traditional wildlife territories.

As authorities investigate, locals continue to remain vigilant, knowing that these wild animals are often forced into populated areas due to loss of habitat.
