Hyderabad: The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has strongly condemned the attack on Masjid-e-Kareem in Nagaram, Nizamabad, and the desecration of the Holy Quran, urging the Telangana government to take stern action against the perpetrators. Amjed Ullah Khan, the spokesman for MBT, expressed outrage over the incident, which he claimed hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims in the region.

Khan revealed that on the morning of the incident, Mohammed Abdul Sarwar, the Mutawalli (caretaker) of Masjid-e-Kareem, arrived to open the mosque for Fajr prayers and discovered that the lock of the mosque had been broken. Upon entering, he was shocked to find torn copies of the Quran scattered on the floor and the mosque’s sound system damaged. The Mutawalli promptly reported the matter to the local police, who registered an FIR under theft, though Khan emphasized that the incident was far more serious.

“This is the 25th attack on Muslims or their institutions since the Congress-led government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, took office,” Khan pointed out. He criticized the inaction of the Telangana police, stating that they have remained silent spectators in all such incidents and failed to make arrests. Khan expressed concern that the Nagaram incident would likely be dismissed as a mere theft, but insisted that it was an orchestrated attempt to create communal tension.

He further claimed that Hindutva elements were targeting mosques and dargahs in remote areas of Telangana, aiming to sow division between communities. Khan also expressed disappointment over the silence of Mohammed Ali Shabbir, a contested candidate for the Nizamabad Assembly seat and advisor to the Chief Minister on Minority Affairs. Despite the incident occurring in Nizamabad, Shabbir Ali has yet to visit the site or address the issue.

MBT continues to demand urgent and decisive action from the state government to ensure the safety and security of Muslim institutions in Telangana.
