Hyderabad: Several candidates faced disappointment as they were denied entry into exam centers for the Group-II services recruitment examination, which began across Telangana on Sunday. The strict adherence to time protocols by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) became a significant hurdle for candidates who arrived just a minute late.
The TGPSC scheduled Paper-I of the Group-II recruitment exam from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, requiring candidates to reach their designated centers at least one-and-a-half hours in advance. Gates were closed sharply at 9:30 am, as per instructions. However, several aspirants who arrived after the cut-off time found themselves barred from entry, despite fervent appeals to center officials.
One of the candidates, who arrived five minutes late, personally appealed to TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham, who was present at a center in Hyderabad to oversee the examination process. The aspirant pleaded for a chance to appear, citing years of hard work and preparation.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appear for the recruitment examination,” the candidate expressed emotionally. However, Chairman Venkatesham reiterated the rules, stating, “The TGPSC had clearly informed candidates that gates would close 30 minutes before the exam. Rules are in place to ensure smooth conduct.”
The second session, Paper-II, is scheduled from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with entry gates closing at 1:30 pm. On Monday, Papers-III and IV will be held in two sessions — 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, respectively.
This recruitment drive has drawn significant attention, with 5,51,847 candidates registered to compete for 783 Group-II vacancies notified by the TGPSC. Despite the heartbreak for some, the commission has emphasized the importance of punctuality and adherence to guidelines for the smooth execution of the examination process.
