“Telangana’s Pride: MJCET Teams Win Big at National Innovation Challenge”

Hyderabad , December 16, 2024 : Six teams from Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) proudly represented Telangana at the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024, a national-level innovation competition conducted on December 11-12, 2024. Out of 50 teams selected from across the state, MJCET contributed the highest number of teams, with two emerging as winners, each securing a cash prize of ₹1 lakh in the Software Edition category.

The event, organized annually by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), is the world’s largest open innovation model, aimed at solving real-world problems with technology-driven solutions. The competition is held in two tracks: Software Edition and Hardware Edition.

  • Teams Nominated by HEIs: 49,892
  • HEIs Registered: 2,600
  • Total Problem Statements: 254

Victories at Prestigious Nodal Centers: IIT Guwahati and KCG Tech Chennai

The first winning team from MJCET, competing at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, comprised the following members:

  • Habeeb Saleh, CSE, 4th Year
  • Syed Kashif Mujtaba, CSE, 4th Year
  • Mohammed Abraar, CSE, 4th Year
  • Abdur Raafe Akheel, CSE, 4th Year
  • Zaina Fatima Abedi, CSE, 4th Year
  • Mariya Hussain, CSE, 3rd Year

The second team from MJCET triumphed at KCG Tech Chennai, featuring:

  • Muhammad Affan Asif, CSE, 3rd Year
  • Syed Kareem Fauzaan, CSE, 3rd Year
  • Syed Imran, CSE, 3rd Year
  • M.A. Ibraheem Farooq, CSE, 3rd Year
  • Mohammadi Fatima, CSE, 3rd Year
  • Ameena Begum, CSE, 3rd Year

Celebrating Excellence

Honorary Secretary of the Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society, Mr. Zafar Javeed, congratulated the winners and praised all six participating teams from MJCET for their outstanding performance. During an interaction with the participants, Mr. Javeed commended their innovative approach and the hard work that led to their success at the national level. He emphasized the importance of such competitions in shaping the future of young engineers and encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence.

“Your success is a testament to the high standards of education and innovation at MJCET,” said Mr. Javeed. He lauded the students’ determination in tackling real-world challenges with technology-driven solutions and expressed pride in their ability to represent the college and Telangana on a prestigious platform like the Smart India Hackathon.

In recognition of their efforts, Mr. Javeed announced a cash reward of ₹10,000 for each participant from all six teams and assured continued support for students engaging in such competitions. He encouraged them to take forward the legacy of excellence that MJCET is known for.

Dr. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Principal of MJCET, commended the students’ dedication and emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation. “Such achievements set benchmarks for others to follow,” he remarked. Dr. Syed Ferhatullah Hussainy, Dean of Student Affairs, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments and stressed the importance of a strong culture of hackathons at MJCET, which has been cultivated over the past decade. “This competitive environment plays a significant role in honing the skills of future innovators,” he added.

The event, held at prominent nodal centers such as IIT Kharagpur, IIT Gandhinagar, NIT Suratkal, and others, underscores the exceptional talent and innovative spirit emerging from MJCET. This accomplishment sets a benchmark for engineering education in Telangana, reflecting the college’s commitment to excellence in academics and innovation.
