Hyderabad: Amid a surge in Android Package Kit (APK) scams across Telangana, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGSCB) has issued an alert, urging citizens to stay vigilant against such cyber threats.

Shikha Goel, Director of TGSCB, highlighted that fraudsters are exploiting fake links associated with government schemes like PM-KISAN and PM YOJANA to target unsuspecting users on WhatsApp. “When users click on these fake links, an unauthorized application gets downloaded, compromising their mobile phones and leading to potential financial loss,” she said.

Hyderabad Real Estate Market Faces Slowdown Amid National Trends

0

While other cities like NCR and Bengaluru continue to thrive, Hyderabad’s real estate market now faces the challenge of regaining its momentum amidst fierce competition in India’s top realty markets.

Hyderabad, November 20 , 2024: Hyderabad’s real estate market is experiencing a slowdown, with a significant decline in unit sales during the first half of FY25, as revealed by the latest ANAROCK data. This trend reflects broader changes across India’s top real estate markets, though some cities have managed to maintain growth momentum.

Hyderabad’s Decline in Sales

Between April and September 2024, Hyderabad recorded a 7% drop in the number of units sold, from 29,940 units in H1 FY24 to 27,820 units in H1 FY25. Despite this, the total value of sales increased significantly, rising from ₹25,059 crore to ₹31,993 crore due to a 37% jump in the average ticket size of homes sold, from ₹84 lakh to ₹1.15 crore.

However, the overall dip in sales volume suggests a cooling phase for Hyderabad’s luxury real estate sector, previously known for its booming growth.

Comparison with Other Cities

A detailed analysis of India’s top real estate markets reveals mixed trends:

  • Bengaluru maintained stability with sales holding at approximately 31,400 units, while the sales value surged from ₹26,274 crore in H1 FY24 to ₹37,863 crore in H1 FY25.
  • NCR reported steady sales, with units sold slightly dropping from 32,315 to 32,125, but the total value rose dramatically from ₹30,154 crore to ₹46,611 crore.
  • MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) led the markets with a small increase in units sold, from 76,410 to 77,735, and a rise in total value from ₹1,12,356 crore to ₹1,14,529 crore.
  • Chennai, Pune, and Kolkata witnessed declines in sales volumes but varying increases or stagnations in total sales value.

Detailed Comparison of Sales Across Markets

CityH1 FY24 Units (₹ in Cr)H1 FY25 Units (₹ in Cr)
Bengaluru31,440 (₹26,274 cr)31,380 (₹37,863 cr)
Hyderabad29,940 (₹25,059 cr)27,820 (₹31,993 cr)

MMR76,410 (₹1,12,356 cr)77,735 (₹1,14,529 cr)

Factors Behind Hyderabad’s Slowdown

Several reasons have contributed to Hyderabad’s decline in sales:

  1. Government Policies: Inconsistent planning and regulatory hurdles have created uncertainty for buyers and developers.
  2. HYDRAA Enforcement Actions: Strict crackdowns and demolitions have caused apprehension in the real estate market.
  3. Economic Factors: Rising construction costs and inflation have impacted affordability.
  4. Market Saturation: The rapid growth in Hyderabad’s luxury segment over recent years may have reached a saturation point.

Future Outlook

Experts believe Hyderabad’s real estate market still holds potential for growth, but the government must implement measures to rebuild confidence among investors and developers. This includes simplifying regulations, enhancing transparency, and ensuring stability in the market.

While other cities like NCR and Bengaluru continue to thrive, Hyderabad’s real estate market now faces the challenge of regaining its momentum amidst fierce competition in India’s top realty markets.

Hyderabad Woman Duped of ₹1.70 Lakh by Fraudsters Impersonating Employer on WhatsApp

0

Hyderabad, November 19, 2024: In yet another case of cyber fraud, a 30-year-old woman from Hyderabad fell prey to scammers who impersonated her employer on WhatsApp, deceiving her into transferring ₹1.70 lakh to unknown accounts.

The victim, employed with a private company in the city, received messages from a WhatsApp account appearing to belong to her superior. Believing the communication to be genuine, she followed instructions and transferred the money through UPI to accounts provided in the messages.

It was only after the transaction that she discovered her employer’s account had been hacked and the messages were sent by cybercriminals. Upon realizing the fraud, she lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police, who have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Similar Cyber Fraud Cases in Hyderabad
This incident adds to the growing list of cyber frauds in Hyderabad. Earlier this year, several individuals, including a businessman and a retired government employee, lost significant sums to similar scams.

  • Businessman Scammed for ₹12 Lakh: In June, a Hyderabad-based entrepreneur lost ₹12 lakh to fraudsters impersonating a bank official. The scammers convinced him to share his banking details under the guise of verifying transactions.
  • Retired Employee Duped for ₹5 Lakh: In another case, a retired government employee lost ₹5 lakh after fraudsters posed as representatives from a pension department, claiming to update his pension account details.
  • Job Scam Victims: In August, a group of students applying for jobs were tricked into paying registration fees for fake opportunities listed on fraudulent websites.

Police Warnings and Advisory
Cybercrime officials have repeatedly urged citizens to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of any communication received on social media platforms, especially those involving financial transactions.

“In most cases, scammers use cloned accounts or hacked profiles to deceive victims. We advise individuals not to act on messages requesting money without thorough verification,” an official from Hyderabad Cybercrime Police stated.

How to Stay Safe
To prevent falling victim to such frauds, the police recommend:

  1. Verifying the sender’s identity through a direct call or meeting.
  2. Avoiding financial transactions based solely on messages received on social media or messaging apps.
  3. Reporting suspicious activity to cybercrime authorities immediately.

With cases of digital fraud on the rise, authorities are emphasizing the need for public awareness and urging people to use online platforms cautiously. Investigations into this recent case and others are ongoing as police aim to trace the scammers and recover the lost amounts.

BJP’s Vinod Tawde Accused of Cash Distribution on Eve of Maharashtra Elections; EC Seizes Nearly ₹10 Lakh

0

Mumbai, November 19, 2024: A major controversy unfolded in Virar, Mumbai, on Tuesday, a day before Maharashtra’s Assembly elections, when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Vinod Tawde was accused of distributing cash to voters. The incident occurred at a hotel, where workers from the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) confronted Tawde, alleging that he had come to bribe voters ahead of the election.

Cash Recovered, FIR Filed
An Election Commission (EC) official confirmed the recovery of nearly ₹9.93 lakh from Tawde’s hotel room. Following the discovery, the police registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter.

The controversy escalated over the course of several hours, with BVA workers claiming to have caught Tawde red-handed with the cash. Tawde, however, vehemently denied the allegations and demanded a fair inquiry from the EC.

Press Conference Stopped
Amidst the commotion, it was initially decided that a joint press conference would be held at the hotel, involving Tawde, Hitendra Thakur, Kshitij Thakur, and BJP’s candidate Rajan Naik. However, EC officials intervened and halted the press conference, citing the restriction on such events a day before polling.

Tawde and the Thakur family members left the venue in a car, with Tawde later stating that they were going for lunch.

BVA’s Allegations and BJP’s Denials
The BVA, led by Vasai-Virar MLA Hitendra Thakur, claimed that Tawde had been caught with cash and a diary containing records of cash distribution. Thakur alleged that Tawde had come to Virar with ₹5 crore for voter bribery, a claim he presented alongside the diary, which he later showed to the media.

Thakur further criticized the hotel for allegedly turning off its CCTV cameras during the incident, suggesting that this was done to cover up the money distribution. Tawde, however, insisted that he had visited the hotel for a BJP meeting and denied any involvement in distributing money.

BJP’s Response
BJP leaders swiftly dismissed the allegations, calling them part of a conspiracy to tarnish Tawde’s image. State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule described the accusations as baseless, claiming that the opposition was resorting to such tactics due to their diminishing support.

BJP Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar ridiculed the allegations, pointing out that as a national leader, Tawde would not be involved in such actions at the ward level. He further stated that any claims against opposition leaders, like Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, would be swiftly condemned.

Opposition Criticizes BJP
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the opposition alliance, criticized the BJP over the controversy, accusing the ruling party of indulging in corrupt practices. Meanwhile, the EC has promised to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the veracity of the claims.

This incident has put a spotlight on the political climate in Maharashtra on the eve of the elections, adding to the tensions and allegations surrounding the state’s electoral process.

CM Revanth Reddy Inaugurates Kaloji Kalakshetram in Hanamkonda

0

Warangal, November 19, 2024: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy officially inaugurated the much-awaited Kaloji Kalakshetram, a state-of-the-art cultural convention centre, in the Balasamudram area of Hanamkonda on Tuesday. The event witnessed the unveiling of Kaloji Narayana Rao’s statue and the screening of a short film that highlighted the poet’s life and the journey of this prestigious project.

The grand inauguration was attended by the entire cabinet, marking a tribute to Kaloji, a revered Telangana poet known for his literary contributions in Telugu and Urdu.

A Dream Realized
Spanning 4.25 acres, the Kalakshetram was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹95 crore. The project was originally conceived by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, who laid its foundation stone in 2014. The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation executed the project under the supervision of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA), with major construction works completed during the previous BRS government’s tenure.

In 2022, the responsibility for the project was transferred from the Department of Tourism to KUDA, expediting its completion.

State-of-the-Art Features
The four-story structure boasts an impressive built-up area of 1.77 lakh square feet. Its key features include:

  • A main auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,127, fitted with advanced audio-visual facilities.
  • Four mini halls for smaller events.
  • An AC art gallery showcasing Kaloji’s photographs, memorabilia, and awards.
  • Dining facilities, VIP suites, a library, an art gallery, and offices.
  • A beautifully landscaped entrance, decorative fountains, and streetlights enhancing the premises.

The Kalakshetram also features an elaborate lobby and spaces designed to host cultural programs, theatrical performances, and art festivals.

Controversy Over Urdu Representation

Local journalists Akbar Zia, SM Sayeed, and Md Jafer Nizamuddin, along with Congress leader and ex-Corporator Abubakar, and Warangal Muslim intellectuals Nadeem Baig, Dr. Aneesh Siddiqui, and M. Masood Mahshar, repeatedly highlighted the absence of prominent Urdu signage at the Kalakshetram. This was particularly concerning as Kaloji Narayana Rao was also a poet of Urdu literature. Their persistent efforts led the government to install an Urdu board, addressing concerns raised by the community.

A Tribute to Heritage
At the heart of the Kalakshetram stands a statue of Kaloji, symbolizing his unparalleled contributions to Telugu literature and culture. The centre is envisioned as a cultural hub that not only honors his legacy but also fosters artistic and literary endeavors.

With its advanced amenities and architectural grandeur, the Kaloji Kalakshetram promises to become a landmark in Telangana’s cultural landscape, hosting diverse events and attracting art enthusiasts from across the region.

Bangladesh: Removal of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Portraits Sparks Nationwide Debate

0

Dhaka: The removal of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait, the first President and Father of the Nation, from the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, the Presidential Palace in Bangladesh, has stirred controversy. Reports suggest that similar removals are taking place in various government offices, sparking widespread discussions in political circles and on social media.

Mahfooz Alam Islam, an adviser to the interim government, first brought attention to the matter by posting on social media. He shared an image from Bangabhaban, confirming that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait had been taken down. In his post, Mahfooz stated, “After 1971, the fascist Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait has been removed from Darbar Hall. It is shameful that even after August 5, this portrait remained at Bangabhaban. We apologize for the delay in its removal.”

Following this revelation, reports emerged that portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were also being removed from other government offices, including departments such as Commerce and Maritime Transport. Faisal Hassan, a public relations officer, confirmed to BBC Bangla that no portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was displayed in the Ministry of Home Affairs Advisor’s office.

The matter took a political turn when BNP’s Senior Joint General Secretary Ruh Kabir Rizvi commented on the issue. Initially, Rizvi expressed regret over the removal, saying, “The portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman should not have been removed from Bangabhaban.” However, hours later, Rizvi retracted his statement, apologizing for the confusion. He clarified that he believed the portrait had been removed from a gallery displaying all Presidents’ portraits.

In his revised statement, Rizvi said, “Under Sheikh Hasina’s authoritarian regime, laws mandating the display of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait were imposed. These fascist laws are invalid. It is inappropriate to display such symbols of misrule in offices and courts. I regret my earlier remarks and apologize for any misunderstanding.”

Reports from various regions indicate that after Sheikh Hasina’s government left power, many government offices and courts began removing portraits of both Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina. BBC Bangla conducted investigations across government and autonomous institutions, confirming that portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have been taken down in multiple locations.

This development has triggered a broader debate about the political legacy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the laws enforced during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure. The removal of these portraits underscores the deepening political divide in Bangladesh and raises questions about the symbolic role of such imagery in public institutions.

Police Earn Praise for Humanity at Tandur Exam Center in Vikarabad

Vikarabad, November 18,2024 : Mothers are often called symbols of compassion, and this was exemplified today by a female police constable at a Group-3 examination center. When a mother, accompanied by her 6-month-old baby, arrived at the exam venue but was denied entry with the infant, Constable Narsamma stepped in to help. She offered to care for the baby, enabling the mother to take the exam without worry.

The incident occurred at the Sindhu Junior College exam center in Tandur, Vikarabad district. Krishna Veni, a resident of Serilingampally, Hyderabad, traveled to the center with her baby to take the Group-3 exam. As per regulations, she was not allowed to bring her child into the examination hall. Distressed, Krishna Veni found solace when Constable Narsamma volunteered to look after her baby. Narsamma assured the mother that her child was in safe hands, allowing her to focus on her exam.

During the examination, Narsamma not only managed her duty at the exam center but also tended to the baby with care, ensuring the child felt no discomfort in the absence of the mother. Other female constables present at the center joined in to entertain and comfort the infant, creating a heartwarming scene of camaraderie and kindness.

Tandur Sub-Collector, who visited the examination center during this time, took note of the incident. He commended Constable Narsamma for her exceptional humanitarian gesture.

Recent Acts of Support by Police During Group-3 Exams
In another instance of exemplary service during the same Group-3 examination, police officers helped candidates who mistakenly arrived at the wrong exam center. The officers used their motorcycle and a police vehicle to ensure the candidate reached the correct venue on time.

The heartwarming story from Vikarabad, coupled with such acts of dedication, underscores the unwavering commitment of the police force to both duty and humanity. These incidents are a testament to the extraordinary efforts made to support individuals facing challenging circumstances.
