Hyderabad, November 19, 2024: The University of East London (UEL) has taken a significant step in strengthening its academic-industry collaboration by launching its Industry Advisory Board (IAB) in Hyderabad as part of its India Tour 2024. This milestone event, the second stop in UEL’s three-city tour, underscores the institution’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and fostering partnerships with Indian industries.
Accompanying the launch was an HR roundtable, which brought together prominent industry leaders, academicians, and government officials to address key issues in human resources. Topics discussed included digital transformation, diversity and inclusion, and enhancing employee experiences.
The Industry Advisory Board aims to bridge the gap between academia and the job market by developing industry-relevant curricula, enhancing student employability, and driving research initiatives. Two major proposals were highlighted:
- Merit-Based Scholarship Program to reward outstanding academic achievements among Indian students.
- UEL Careers Proposition, leveraging over 4,500 industry partnerships to provide students with global career opportunities.
The HealthTech Roundtable, another key feature of the event, focused on launching UEL’s Year of Health initiative in India, aimed at promoting health innovation and wellness.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Amanda J. Broderick, Vice-Chancellor and President of UEL, said, “Hyderabad, known for its technological excellence and entrepreneurial spirit, provides the ideal setting for our initiatives. By launching the IAB and hosting insightful discussions, we aim to equip students with the skills and expertise needed to excel in a competitive global job market.”
UEL’s partnerships with leading organizations like Siemens and T-Hub have been pivotal in driving these initiatives. Through these collaborations, students gain access to internships, work placements, and research opportunities that align with market needs.
India Tour 2024 Highlights:
- A focus on sustainable education, innovation, and fostering global citizenship.
- Strategic partnerships with Indian institutions and industries to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
- Upcoming events include a Women in Leadership Awards ceremony in Vadodara on November 22, 2024.
With its India Tour 2024, UEL reinforces its commitment to sustainability and international collaboration, recognizing India’s pivotal role as a global education hub. The tour serves as a platform to inspire future global leaders and promote impactful partnerships between academia and industry.
