Report, Maqbool Anna

Hyderabad, 13,September 2024 :- City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand addressed a significant meeting held at Dargah Hazrat Syed Noori Shah Jeelani Chisti-Al-Qadiri in Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad, on Friday. The consultation meeting, organized in coordination with prominent Ulmas and Muslim organizations, focused on preparations for the upcoming 1500th anniversary of Milad-un-Nabi, celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

During his speech, C.V. Anand emphasized the importance of spreading the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). He noted that Milad-un-Nabi is a time to highlight the message of humanity, brotherhood, and compassion. Referring to the life of the Prophet, he shared a well-known story where an elderly woman used to place thorns on the Prophet’s path. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) would remove the thorns without reacting. One day, when the thorns were absent, he visited her home to check on her well-being. This, Anand said, is the embodiment of love, kindness, and humanity that the Prophet preached.

C.V. Anand also reassured the gathering that the police force, along with other government agencies, would work closely with the community to ensure peaceful and harmonious celebrations. He called for maintaining the essence of Hyderabad’s Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb, the city’s rich cultural heritage of unity and diversity.

“Let us keep Hyderabad flourishing and joyful, where Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians live together in harmony,” Anand added, offering his heartfelt congratulations in advance for the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.

Speculation Surrounds Successor for CPI(M) General Secretary Post After Sitaram Yechury’s Demise

0

Kolkata, Sep-13 : — Following the untimely demise of Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, speculation is mounting over who will succeed him as the party’s next leader. Yechury, a pivotal figure in Indian politics, passed away on [Insert Date] after being hospitalized due to prolonged illness. His death marks the end of an era for CPI(M), leaving a significant leadership vacuum.

Health Struggles and Final Days

Yechury had been battling [specify illness if known] for several months and was admitted to [name of hospital] in [city] on [insert hospitalization date]. Despite the best efforts of doctors, his condition worsened, and he passed away surrounded by close family and colleagues. His death has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with tributes pouring in from across party lines, recognizing his contributions to both the party and national politics.

Concerns Over His Successor

As the CPI(M) mourns the loss of its leader, attention has shifted to the selection of his successor. There are pressing questions within the party over whether an acting general secretary will be appointed to guide the CPI(M) until the 24th party Congress in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, in April next year, or whether the central committee will choose a permanent replacement from the politburo.

A central committee member from West Bengal, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “Sitaram was expected to be replaced at the Madurai party Congress as he would have completed his third term. He was supposed to play a crucial role in finalizing his successor. Now, the challenge is deciding who will continue with the task until the party Congress.”

Mediator Role in Non-BJP Alliances

Another major concern is finding a leader who can match Yechury’s success in mediating with national-level non-BJP alliance partners. Yechury had established himself as a key figure in opposition alliances, helping coordinate strategies during the last Lok Sabha elections.

This aspect of Yechury’s leadership is particularly important for the West Bengal CPI(M). Yechury had always backed the state unit’s independent line of seat-sharing arrangements with the Congress, a strategy that may now come under scrutiny. His absence leaves the West Bengal leadership uncertain about whether the new leader will continue this approach.

“Sitaram’s death is a major shock for the party, especially for West Bengal’s leadership,” said the central committee member. “He always valued our specific strategy for the state, even when there was opposition from elsewhere in the party.”

Yechury’s Legacy as a Liberal Marxist

Sitaram Yechury was known for his liberal Marxist stance, following in the footsteps of his mentor, former party general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjit, and the late West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu. He was open to adapting the party’s strategies to suit regional needs, especially in West Bengal, where he supported alliances with the Congress to counter the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Yechury’s liberal views allowed the CPI(M) to form a seat-sharing arrangement with Congress before the 2016 Assembly elections, which continued through the 2021 Assembly elections and the most recent Lok Sabha polls. This pragmatic approach was vital for maintaining the Left-Congress alliance in West Bengal, despite the rivalry between the two parties in Kerala.

Challenges for the New Leadership

Yechury’s death has left the CPI(M) at a crossroads, with the upcoming selection of his successor likely to shape the future of the party. The new leader will not only need to uphold Yechury’s legacy of national-level mediation but also navigate the delicate state-specific strategies that Yechury championed.

The CPI(M) faces the difficult task of finding a leader who can balance ideological commitments with the practical realities of Indian politics, particularly in maintaining alliances and addressing state-level challenges. As the party gears up for the 2024 elections, the absence of Yechury’s guiding hand will be keenly felt.

Rachakonda Police Amplify Road Safety Awareness with Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Campaign

0

Hyderabad, Sep, 13 : — In an effort to raise road safety awareness during the Ganesh Festival, the Rachakonda police launched a creative campaign that has captured public attention. The campaign, shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), features an eco-friendly Ganesh idol securely fastened with a seatbelt, sending a strong message about the importance of responsible behavior on the road.

The tweet, which read, “Even Lord Ganesha wore a seatbelt. Why don’t we? Let’s honor both tradition and safety by buckling up every time we’re on the road,” resonated with the public by merging cultural significance with a vital safety precaution. The police are using this powerful imagery to encourage citizens to take road safety more seriously, particularly during festive celebrations when traffic and travel increase.

The Message Behind the Campaign

The Rachakonda police aimed to use a universally revered figure, Lord Ganesha, to convey the importance of wearing seatbelts, a simple but life-saving habit. By portraying the deity wearing a seatbelt, the campaign connects the tradition of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with the modern need for road safety, reminding citizens that small actions, such as buckling up, can prevent major tragedies.

This initiative also highlights the need for eco-friendly practices during the festival, advocating for the use of sustainable Ganesh idols that do not harm the environment. By promoting both environmental awareness and road safety in a single campaign, the Rachakonda police are demonstrating a comprehensive approach to public welfare during the festive season.

Raising Awareness Amid Festivities

Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi see a surge in travel, processions, and celebrations, often leading to congested roads and higher accident risks. The Rachakonda police, through this campaign, aim to ensure that while citizens enjoy the festivities, they remain cautious and prioritize safety.

By tapping into the emotions associated with Ganesh Chaturthi, the police are encouraging people to adopt safe driving practices, such as wearing seatbelts, not using mobile phones while driving, and following traffic rules. The campaign’s central message is that devotion to tradition and respect for safety can go hand in hand.

Impact and Public Response

The response to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive, with citizens appreciating the innovative approach taken by the Rachakonda police. Many have shared the message further, increasing its reach and impact. The use of social media has allowed the police to engage with a younger audience, spreading the importance of road safety in a way that is relatable and memorable.

The Rachakonda police are hopeful that this campaign will lead to greater awareness about road safety and motivate citizens to follow traffic rules, especially during the festive season when the risks on the roads are higher.

This campaign is a reminder that simple actions, like wearing a seatbelt, can make the difference between life and death. The police continue to urge everyone to drive responsibly and ensure that safety remains a priority, not just during festivals but throughout the year.

Supreme Court Grants Bail to Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi Excise Policy Corruption Case

0

New Delhi : Sep 13 — In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the ongoing Delhi excise policy corruption case, investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court’s decision was delivered on Friday by a bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan.

The bench, while granting the bail, acknowledged that the trial is not expected to be completed in the near future. Kejriwal was granted bail on the condition of furnishing a bail bond of ₹10 lakh along with two sureties of the same amount. Additionally, the court has restricted him from making any public comments on the merits of the CBI case.

Justice Surya Kant, in his remarks, stated that Kejriwal’s arrest did not suffer from any procedural irregularities. However, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, in a separate and pointed judgment, expressed concerns regarding the necessity and timing of the arrest. He questioned why the CBI, despite having the case for 22 months, only arrested the Chief Minister after the trial court had granted him regular bail in the case linked to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justice Bhuyan observed that the arrest seemed designed to thwart Kejriwal’s bail granted in the ED case.

“This raises a serious question about the motives behind the arrest,” Justice Bhuyan stated. He further highlighted that such actions give rise to doubts about the CBI’s objectivity, comparing the incident to the previously criticized conduct of the agency, which had been termed as a “caged parrot” by the Supreme Court.

Justice Bhuyan also pointed out that an accused has the right to remain silent, and no adverse inference can be drawn from such silence. He stressed that the deprivation of liberty, even for a single day, is one day too many.

With the court’s judgment, Arvind Kejriwal will be released, though the legal scrutiny into the Delhi excise policy scam remains ongoing. The case continues to draw significant political and legal attention, with questions surrounding the CBI’s investigation and actions.

Arvind Kejriwal’s Involvement in the Delhi Excise Policy Corruption Case: How It All Began

The corruption case involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, which is connected to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, first came to light in 2021. The case revolves around irregularities and corruption claims regarding the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s liquor policy.

How the Case Began

The controversy started when the Delhi government, under Arvind Kejriwal, introduced a new excise policy in 2021, aiming to reform the liquor distribution system. The policy was supposed to simplify the licensing process and increase revenue for the state. However, allegations soon emerged that the policy was manipulated to favor a few private companies, leading to losses for the government and financial gains for certain individuals.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began investigating the matter, focusing on the possibility that corruption had taken place during the implementation of this policy. Arvind Kejriwal and several other officials were implicated, with accusations that undue benefits were given to liquor licensees in exchange for kickbacks.

Summons and Interrogations

Arvind Kejriwal was questioned multiple times by both the CBI and ED as part of their investigations into the case. Each time he was summoned, it led to significant political and media attention. While Kejriwal consistently denied any wrongdoing and claimed the charges were politically motivated, the investigative agencies continued to build their case.

The Chief Minister has been called for questioning on various occasions over the past two years. These sessions, often lasting several hours, have focused on understanding his role in drafting and approving the policy. Kejriwal’s legal team has argued that the policy was made transparently and aimed at modernizing the liquor trade in Delhi. However, the opposition parties, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have repeatedly accused him of corruption.

Recent Developments

In 2023, after nearly two years of investigation, Kejriwal’s legal troubles escalated when the CBI finally decided to arrest him, sparking further controversy. The timing of the arrest raised questions, especially since the agency had refrained from taking such action for over 22 months.

His arrest was immediately challenged in court, leading to his eventual release on bail by the Supreme Court in 2024. However, this case remains a significant political issue, with Kejriwal’s political opponents using it to question his credibility, while his supporters view it as a tactic to tarnish his image ahead of elections.

Political Impact

Throughout the proceedings, Arvind Kejriwal has maintained that the case is politically motivated, aimed at undermining his government. His party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has also consistently argued that the case is an attempt by the central government to stifle opposition. Despite the legal challenges, Kejriwal continues to lead the Delhi government and remains a prominent figure in Indian politics.

As the case moves forward, it is expected to continue shaping the political landscape, with each new development capturing public and media attention.

Mamata Banerjee Ready to Resign for Bengal’s Sake Amid Junior Doctors’ Strike

0

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Thursday that she is “ready to resign” if it would benefit the people of the state, as the deadlock over the junior doctors’ strike continues. Banerjee expressed her frustration and regret over the ongoing impasse, which has been exacerbated by the refusal of junior doctors to engage in talks regarding the R.G. Kar rape-murder case.

At a press conference, Banerjee revealed that she had waited nearly two hours for the striking doctors to arrive for a scheduled meeting, which was ultimately derailed when the doctors demanded that the meeting be live-streamed. The Chief Minister explained that the meeting could not be broadcast live due to its sensitive nature and ongoing Supreme Court review. However, she offered to record the session and provide the footage with court permission if needed.

Banerjee criticized the doctors for their refusal to negotiate and reiterated her commitment to justice for the victim while urging the doctors to resume their duties. She noted that the strike has resulted in the death of around 27 patients and has severely impacted approximately 7 lakh people due to disruptions in state-run healthcare services.

Despite the protests, Banerjee stated that she would not take disciplinary action against the doctors for violating the Supreme Court directive, emphasizing her patience and willingness to forgive. She also accused some junior doctors of being influenced by “external instructions” and suggested that political motives might be driving the protest.

The junior doctors began their strike on August 9, following the discovery of a female trainee’s body in a seminar room at a hospital. The strike has since intensified, leading to widespread healthcare disruptions across West Bengal.

Banerjee’s readiness to step down highlights her commitment to resolving the crisis and addressing the grievances of both the doctors and the affected citizens. She remains hopeful that open discussions will lead to a resolution, allowing normal healthcare services to resume and justice to be served.

DEO Warns Teachers of Disciplinary Action for Mobile Phone Use During Class Hours

0

Hyderabad: M. Venkateswara Chary, the District Educational Officer (DEO) of Bhadradri Kothagudem, has issued a strong warning to teachers regarding the use of mobile phones during classroom instruction. On Thursday, Chary announced that teachers found using their phones while teaching will face disciplinary action under the Conduct and Discipline Rules (CCA).

Chary’s directive comes after concerns were raised about teachers engaging in phone conversations during class time, which disrupts the learning environment and violates established educational standards. In response, the DEO has instructed Mandal Educational Officers and headmasters to convene meetings with staff to implement and formalize a resolution banning mobile phone use during instructional hours. These meetings should also document the resolution in the minutes register to ensure compliance.

The DEO’s warning includes a strict note that any observed violations will be met with serious consequences, including disciplinary measures according to the Conduct Rules of 1964.

Future Actions in Other Districts !

Following the directive in Kothagudem, there are speculations and concerns about whether similar actions will be enforced in other districts of Telangana. Observers are asking if this stringent policy will be adopted across the state to ensure uniformity in maintaining educational standards and discipline.

The DEO’s move may set a precedent for other districts, potentially leading to widespread implementation of similar regulations to curb mobile phone use by teachers during class hours. Educational authorities across Telangana may be evaluating the situation to determine if adopting such measures is necessary for improving classroom discipline and educational outcomes statewide.
