6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Eastern Turkey, No Immediate Casualties Reported

0

Eastern Turkey was jolted by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, as confirmed by the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The tremor occurred at a depth of 9 km below the earth’s surface, causing widespread panic among residents.

The epicenter of the quake was located in the town of Kale, situated in Malatya province, according to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). The tremors were felt in nearby cities including Diyarbakir, Elazig, and Malatya, as reported by HaberTurk television. Despite the strength of the quake, no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage have emerged so far.

The region has experienced several earthquakes in recent years due to its position along major fault lines. Turkey’s susceptibility to seismic activity has led to frequent tremors, with notable earthquakes in the past decade.

In 2023 alone, Turkey has seen a series of major quakes:

  1. February 6, 2023: A devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit southeastern Turkey and northern Syria, resulting in over 50,000 fatalities. This was one of the deadliest earthquakes in the region’s history.
  2. March 15, 2023: A 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook central Turkey, causing minor damages and injuring several people.
  3. May 5, 2023: A 4.8 magnitude quake struck near the eastern border of Turkey, though no major damages were reported.
  4. October 11, 2023: Another significant quake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck the eastern part of the country, continuing the pattern of frequent seismic activity.

These frequent tremors are a stark reminder of Turkey’s vulnerability to earthquakes, as it lies along the North Anatolian Fault. While the country has improved its disaster preparedness and emergency response systems, the recurrent nature of these quakes calls for continued vigilance.

“MBT Condemns Violence, Questions Congress Leadership Amid Rising Attacks on Muslims”

“Amjed Ullah Khan Challenges Rahul Gandhi: ‘Where is Your Mohabbat Ki Dukan?'”

Hyderabad, October 15, 2024: — A violent incident occurred during Durgapuja at the Fiyaz Juice Center, located near the ESI Hospital in Kagaznagar, where a mob of 50-100 individuals, allegedly affiliated with the BJP/RSS, attacked the establishment. The attack resulted in injuries to two Muslim youths, Fiyaz and Riyaz, and involved the looting of the juice center’s belongings, which were thrown onto the road. Eyewitnesses noted that the entire incident unfolded in front of the police.

Amjed Ullah Khan, the spokesperson for the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), condemned the brutal assault and expressed concern over the rise in communal violence since the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, came to power in Telangana. “Since Congress assumed control, nearly twenty-three communal incidents have targeted Muslims by Hindutva forces, yet there has been no response from Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Opposition,” Khan stated.

Khan further questioned Rahul Gandhi, asking, “Where is your Mohabbat ki Dukan?” referring to the Congress leader’s rhetoric about love and unity, which he believes has not translated into action for the affected communities.

Khan also questioned why permissions were being granted to Hindu organizations in the Komaram Bheem Asifabad District for such events when Section 144 is still imposed in Jainoor due to previous communal riots. He criticized the disparity in treatment, noting that Muslim leaders and organizations were denied permission to visit Jainoor and distribute relief material, despite both Jainoor and Kagaznagar falling under the same district.

“The Hindu organizations in and around Komaram Bheem Asifabad are allowed to hold daily dharnas and rallies, while Muslim organizations face restrictions,” Khan added, emphasizing that the attack on the juice center appeared to be premeditated. He expressed disappointment over the police’s inaction, stating, “It is shameful that the authorities have not arrested the criminals responsible for this attack.”

Khan concluded by calling for accountability and justice for the victims of this and similar incidents, urging the government to take action against communal violence in the state.

KTR Criticizes Congress Government for Corruption in Education Sector

0

Hyderabad, October 15, 2024 — K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister, has accused the Congress government of completely corrupting the education sector in the state. Speaking out against the current state of affairs, KTR emphasized that the government has failed to address crucial issues affecting students and educational institutions.

“The Congress government has degraded to the point where it cannot even pay rent for Gurukula buildings or provide fee reimbursements to college owners. They cannot supply rice to those in need,” KTR stated, expressing his frustration with the situation.

The indefinite closure of degree and PG private colleges across the state has led to significant suffering among students, with many taking to the streets as they are forced to abandon their studies. KTR highlighted that poor students are particularly affected, as they are denied access to education due to the lack of fee reimbursements and scholarships.

“How can a government that spends Rs. 1.5 lakh crores fail to provide funds for rent, fee reimbursement, and scholarships?” he questioned, stressing the urgency of the matter. He criticized the absence of an education minister in the state and called out the Chief Minister for being indifferent to the pressing problems within the education sector.

KTR urged immediate action to prevent further losses to students in the state. “How long has the Chief Minister been occupied with sending parcels to Delhi? Revanth Reddy’s government is jeopardizing the lives of lakhs of students,” he remarked, suggesting that the focus on sending parcels to the national capital is not benefiting the students at all.

The BRS leader reiterated that despite warnings of indefinite shutdowns from colleges, the government remains unresponsive. “This is merely an ant sting for the government,” he added, demanding immediate payment of reimbursement dues and scholarships.

KTR concluded with a strong message: “The BRS will not tolerate injustice to students.”

Recently, the Commissioner focused on the challenges faced by police employees working under the Warangal Police Commissionerate, who are grappling with various personal and departmental problems. To facilitate the resolution of these issues, a special cell has been set up in the Police Control Room of the Warangal Police Commissionerate.

The objective of establishing this special cell is to prioritize the welfare of personnel who may not have access to support for their concerns. For this initiative, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jyoti Priyanka has been appointed as the nodal officer. In case police personnel encounter any non-personal departmental issues, they can report their complaints and concerns to the nodal officer at phone number 948685494. Complaints received in this manner will be brought to the attention of the police commissioner through the relevant nodal officer, and appropriate measures will be taken to resolve the issues.

Police personnel specifically mentioned that they often cannot meet the police commissioner directly regarding their personal and departmental issues. Therefore, it has been decided that police staff will be able to come to the Police Commissionerate every week. The Warangal Police Commissioner has instructed officials to grant appropriate permissions to all personnel who come to meet the police commissioner.

Tensions Rise Between JD(U) and BJP Over Proposed ‘Hindu Swabhimaan Yatra’ in Bihar

0

In Bihar, the political relationship between two major alliance partners, Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is slowly heading in different directions. The latest dispute has emerged over the proposed ‘Hindu Swabhimaan Yatra’ by BJP MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, representing Begusarai. JD(U) has expressed displeasure with the proposed Yatra, and statements from their leaders have begun to surface. This issue follows disagreements over the Waqf Bill and JD(U)’s refusal to support BJP’s stance on lateral entry.

The Hindu Swabhimaan Yatra, led by Union Minister Giriraj Singh, has also faced opposition from the Lok Janshakti Party (Paswan). JD(U) leaders Ghulam Ghaus and Neeraj Kumar have indirectly criticized the Yatra, calling it “divisive.” Both Ghaus and Neeraj, who are JD(U) Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), stated that their government has always upheld communal harmony. “Nitish Kumar has worked with equal passion to build boundary walls for both temples and graveyards. Our government stands for religious harmony,” they emphasized. Prior to these statements, JD(U) leader Vijay Chaudhary had also opposed the Yatra, asserting that the focus should solely be on development.

Arun Bharti, an MP from LJP (Paswan), added, “The BJP believes in uniting Hindus, but there are many issues within the Hindu community itself. People are being divided along caste and religious lines. The BJP must also address the caste system. The backward sections within Hinduism need support, and BJP should help stop atrocities against SC-ST communities.”

The official announcement of the ‘Hindu Swabhimaan Yatra’ is yet to be made. However, several media reports suggest that the Yatra will take place between October 18 and October 22, covering regions such as Bhagalpur, Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria, and Katihar. These are areas with significant Muslim populations in the Seemanchal region. Bhagalpur, in particular, has a history of severe communal riots, which had a devastating impact on the Bhagalpuri bedsheet industry.

Seemanchal is an important region for JD(U), while the BJP is attempting to gain a foothold by dividing the electorate along communal lines. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections were not particularly favorable for either party in these areas. In the 2024 elections, the NDA lost seats in Purnia, Katihar, and Kishanganj, although it retained the Araria seat. In Purnia, Independent candidate Pappu Yadav defeated JD(U)’s Santosh Kumar Kushwaha. In Katihar, Congress candidate Tariq Anwar defeated JD(U)’s Dilar Chandra Goswami, while in Kishanganj, JD(U) leader Mujahid Alam lost to Congress candidate Mohammad Javed.

The BJP’s focus on this region, particularly targeting areas with a higher Muslim population, has raised concerns about potential communal polarization ahead of future elections.

Bishnoi Gang Collaborating with India: Canada Levels Serious Allegations Amid Diplomatic Tensions

0

New Delhi, October 15, 2024: In the midst of ongoing diplomatic tensions, Canada has raised new and serious accusations against the Indian government. The Canadian authorities have alleged that Indian agents, in collaboration with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, are targeting pro-Khalistan elements in Canada. These allegations come at a time when Lawrence Bishnoi is in the news in India for his alleged involvement in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai. However, India has firmly denied these claims, stating that Canada has provided no concrete evidence to support the allegations.

During a press conference on Monday, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Commissioner Michael Duheme accused Indian diplomats of being involved in crimes such as murder, extortion, and intimidation against South Asian immigrants in Canada, particularly targeting pro-Khalistan supporters. Duheme claimed that investigations revealed Indian diplomats and consular officers in Canada were abusing their official positions by engaging in covert activities.

Assistant Commissioner Brigitte Gauthier of Federal Policing and National Security at the RCMP, during the same press conference, alleged that Indian “agents” were using elements of organized crime to target pro-Khalistan individuals in Canada. Gauthier added that “organized crime elements have been utilized to intimidate members of the South Asian community. Though we cannot divulge all details to protect our investigation, it is clear that the Bishnoi gang has been actively involved in these activities in Canada.”

She emphasized that this organized criminal gang has ties to Indian government agents, deepening the diplomatic row between the two countries. The recent expulsion of diplomats from both nations followed Commissioner Duheme’s claims, in which he stated that there was intelligence suggesting that criminal activities had been carried out by Indian agents.

In response, India summoned Canada’s Charge d’Affaires, Stewart Wheeler, on Monday, condemning what it called “baseless targeting” of the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats in Ottawa. India labeled these allegations as unacceptable.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also accused India of using covert surveillance techniques to gather information, targeting Canadian citizens of Asian descent, and being involved in intimidating and violent actions. Citing RCMP evidence, Trudeau claimed that Indian government officials were involved in activities that posed a threat to public safety.

Hyderabad, October 15, 2024: Dr. Mehdi Khajepiri, Director of the Noor International Microfilm Centre, visited the Department of Heritage and Archaeology, Government of Telangana, on Tuesday to oversee ongoing efforts in manuscript preservation.

In April 2024, the Noor International Microfilm Centre, in collaboration with the Iran Culture House in New Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Heritage for the digitalization, repair, conservation, and cataloging of valuable manuscripts and documents. The initiative covers materials in multiple languages, including Persian, Urdu, Arabic, and Sanskrit. The work began in May 2024.

Since the project’s commencement, a team of specialists has made significant progress, having already restored and cataloged over 500 manuscripts and printed books. During his visit, Dr. Khajepiri inspected the ongoing work and provided further guidance to the team. He emphasized the importance of handling these delicate manuscripts, many of which have deteriorated and become brittle due to their age.

Dr. Khajepiri also highlighted the need for specialized expertise for the restoration of over 3,000 Ajanta paintings, which are in fragile condition. Experts from Iran will be brought in to assist with this crucial aspect of the preservation efforts.

The Department of Heritage continues its mission to protect and conserve Telangana’s rich historical and cultural legacy through this collaborative project.

Zeeshan, Son of Baba Siddique, Was Also a Target; Both Were Contracted for Murder: Sources

0

Mumbai: A major development has emerged in the Baba Siddique murder case, revealing that Zeeshan Siddique, son of Baba Siddique, was also targeted for assassination. According to police sources, the arrested suspects have disclosed that Zeeshan Siddique, an MLA, was also on the hit list of the Bishnoi gang.

Police sources further revealed that the suspects were contracted to kill both Zeeshan and Baba Siddique. Additionally, the killers were instructed that if they could not target both at the same time, they should eliminate whoever they encountered first. In connection with the case, police have arrested Baljeet Singh, also known as “Guru Mail,” from Haryana and Dharam Raj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh. However, the third suspect, Shiv Kumar, remains at large. Police have been searching for him since Saturday night. According to information, Shiv Kumar was last seen in the Panvel area in the early morning, but he has yet to be apprehended. Several police teams have been deployed in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi to capture him.

The investigation is being carried out by the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell. Findings from the probe indicate that the three suspects regularly traveled from Kurla (where they were residing on rent) to Bandra, primarily using auto-rickshaws. During this period, they monitored Baba Siddique, his son, and their movements, keeping watch on their home, office, and locations they visited for various events.

Police suspect that the shooters had specific orders to target Zeeshan as well. On the day of the incident, both Baba Siddique and his son were at the same location, and the suspects were informed of this. When the suspects saw Baba Siddique outside along with Zeeshan Siddique, they opened fire, resulting in Baba Siddique’s death.
