Amidst swirling speculation on the tentative dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Delhi has issued a clarification, dispelling confusion surrounding the mentioned date of April 16. In response to media queries referencing a circular from @CeodelhiOffice, the Delhi CEO’s office clarified that the date of April 16, 2024, was only mentioned as a ‘reference’ for officials to plan activities based on the Election Planner of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The clarification comes after the Delhi CEO’s office had earlier issued a notification to all 11 District Election Officers in the city, urging compliance with the timeline outlined in the Election Planner of the ECI. The notification emphasized the tentative Poll Day as April 16, 2024, for reference in calculating start and end dates in the Election Planner.
The communication further highlighted the Election Planner Portal’s role, sending notifications to CEO Delhi on the start and end dates of each activity. It stressed the importance of adhering to given timelines, initiating and completing election activities, and providing timely reports to the CEO’s office.
The CEO’s office directed officials to send reports to the COE Branch at least one day prior to the start and end dates of each activity, emphasizing the need for accurate updates on the status of each task. As the electoral preparations unfold, the clarification aims to bring clarity and understanding amidst the evolving discourse surrounding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
