New Delhi, May 26 — Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal has taken proactive measures to ensure the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) ahead of the Lok Sabha election results. Sibal released a comprehensive chart for counting agents of political parties during a press conference on Sunday. He emphasized the importance of checking the time stamp on the machines, which should reflect June 4, the designated day for opening.
According to Sibal’s guidelines, counting agents must meticulously verify crucial details such as the Control Unit (CU) number, Ballot Unit (BU) number, paper seal, and VVPAT ID. Any discrepancy in these details could indicate tampering with the EVMs.
The former Union Minister stressed the significance of matching the total votes polled with the final results. Any disparity between the two figures suggests possible manipulation of the EVMs.
Sibal further outlined the procedure for verification, stating that after ensuring the accuracy of all aforementioned data, counting agents should request the officer to click on the Results button on the EVM. Any inconsistency in the date and timing displayed on the screen could indicate manipulation of the machine.
This initiative by Kapil Sibal has gained significant traction on social media, with the guidelines trending on Twitter under the hashtag #EVMIntegrity. Citizens are urged to watch and share the video containing these important instructions to ensure the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.
