Hyderabad : — In a landmark announcement, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan declared during the joint budget session of the State Legislative Assembly and Council that the Telangana government is poised to introduce internet access as a fundamental right for its citizens. The initiative aims not only to establish digital infrastructure but also to ensure its accessibility and affordability across all sections of society.

The Governor emphasized the implementation of a comprehensive digital literacy program, designed to empower every household regardless of economic status or geographical location. This move is envisioned to capitalize on the burgeoning digital landscape and its accompanying opportunities.

Moreover, in a bold stride towards technological prowess, the government plans to establish Hyderabad and Telangana as the nation’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) capital. This ambition will materialize through the establishment of a dedicated AI City spanning 50-100 acres, beckoning both global and national technology giants to set up their AI Centers within its confines.

The Governor also reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral promises, citing the ongoing execution of the Maha Lakshmi Scheme, which has facilitated over 15 crore trips for women via free TSRTC bus transportation services. Additionally, forthcoming endeavors under the scheme include subsidized LPG cylinders and free domestic power under the Gruha Jyothi scheme.

Furthermore, the government aims to bolster the agricultural sector through initiatives such as Rythu Bharosa and crop loan waivers, emphasizing crop diversification, horticultural promotion, and advanced agricultural practices.

In the realm of industry, the government unveiled plans for a new Industrial Policy, informed by meticulous research and global benchmarks. A parallel initiative includes the introduction of a comprehensive MSME Policy to enhance technological capabilities, manpower recruitment, financing, and market access.

Telangana’s commitment to champion sectors like IT and Pharma remains unwavering, with proposals to establish Pharma village clusters and transform Government ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres. Moreover, a comprehensive Energy Policy is on the horizon, aimed at optimizing power costs and promoting green energy solutions to mitigate carbon emissions.

The Governor also announced a Tourism Policy focused on promoting and preserving the state’s architectural marvels, culinary heritage, and natural splendors. Additionally, plans for a Caste Census underscore the government’s dedication to fostering social equity and inclusivity through data-driven policy formulation.
