Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, conducted an inspection of the flood-affected areas in Khammam district on Monday, September 2. The visit was focused on assessing the damage caused by the recent floods and planning the necessary repairs and relief efforts.
The Chief Minister’s convoy visited Nayakanigudem, near Khammam town, where a damaged bridge and road were among the critical infrastructure affected by the flooding. The inspection included a thorough evaluation of the site to determine the extent of the damage and the immediate steps required for restoration.
The district of Khammam has been severely impacted by the flooding of the Munneru River, which overflowed its banks on Sunday due to heavy rains in the catchment area. The floodwaters submerged large parts of the district, causing extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural fields. During the visit, the Chief Minister also inspected the Paleru Left Canal and the surrounding agricultural lands, which were particularly affected by the heavy influx of floodwaters.
Since Sunday morning, officials have been actively managing relief operations in the flood-stricken district, working tirelessly to provide aid to those affected. The Chief Minister was briefed on the ongoing relief efforts and the current situation by officials on the ground. The flooding has resulted in significant loss of life and widespread destruction, prompting the state government to prioritize relief and rehabilitation measures.
Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the affected communities and ensuring a swift response to the disaster. He assured that all necessary resources would be deployed to repair the damage and assist the residents of Khammam in recovering from the devastation caused by the floods.
