In a recent statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), A.V. Ranganath, Commissioner of the Hyderabad Airport Development Authority (HYDRAA), clarified the organization’s stance on demolitions. He emphasized that HYDRAA’s primary objective is the restoration and preservation of lakes, not the demolition of homes.
Ranganath assured that HYDRAA does not target the homes of poor or middle-class individuals in its operations, urging the public not to be misled by false propaganda circulating on social media. He noted that HYDRAA’s jurisdiction is limited to the Outer Ring Road and cautioned against attributing demolitions to HYDRAA unnecessarily.
The Commissioner also highlighted a growing trend where demolitions in various parts of the city, across the state, and even in other states, are incorrectly linked to HYDRAA online, which has instilled unwarranted fear among the public. “Not all demolitions are conducted by HYDRAA,” he said, calling for greater awareness from both the public and social media platforms.
Ranganath further elaborated on HYDRAA’s core mission, which revolves around protecting natural resources. The authority is dedicated to preserving lakes, ponds, and drainage channels, while also working to prevent flooding in roads and residential areas during heavy rains and floods.
Tagging key officials, including @TelanganaCMO and @PrlsecyMAUD, Ranganath reinforced the importance of safeguarding Hyderabad’s natural ecosystems for the betterment of the city’s infrastructure and safety.
