“Empowering Young Minds to Solve Real-World Challenges Through Data-Driven Innovation”
Hyderabad, November 23, 2024 : The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Department of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) organized DATANYX-24, Telangana’s first-ever 24-hour datathon, on November 23-24, 2024. The event aims to bring together engineering students from across Hyderabad to solve real-world challenges using data-driven insights.
The inaugural ceremony took place on November 23 at 11:00 AM in Ghulam Ahmed Hall, MJCET Campus. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Vijaya Singh, former Director and Distinguished Scientist at DRDO, and Guest of Honor Mr. Balaprasad Peddigari, Chief Innovation Officer at Tata Consultancy Services. Mr. Zafar Javeed, Honorary Secretary of Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society (SUES), presided over the session.
Event Highlights
Prof. Uma N Dulhare, Head of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Department, delivered the welcome address, outlining the objectives of the datathon and wishing success to the 60 participating teams, each comprising four students. She emphasized that the datathon challenges focus on four key areas: EdTech, MedTech, AgroTech, and FinTech.
Prof. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Principal of MJCET, encouraged students to harness vast datasets to derive valuable insights.
Guest of Honor Mr. Balaprasad Peddigari described Artificial Intelligence as the “new oil” and urged participants to explore sustainable AI-driven solutions to contemporary issues. He commended SUES and MJCET for fostering an environment of quality education and innovation.
Chief Guest Dr. Vijaya Singh shared his journey in the field of computing, from using punched cards in the 1970s to the present era of handheld AI-enabled devices. He highlighted AI’s transformative role in areas like autonomous vehicles, image processing, and defense technologies. Dr. Singh praised the initiative and wished the participants success.
Recognition and Future Events
The dignitaries, including Mr. Zafar Javeed, felicitated the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor for their valuable insights and contributions. Mr. KV Narsimha Rao, Registrar of MJCET, Prof. Ferhatullah Hussainy, Dean of Student Affairs, and several departmental heads and principals from SUES attended the event.
The datathon will conclude at 10:00 AM on November 24, followed by a valedictory session at 11:00 AM, during which awards will be presented to the winning teams.
