New Delhi : – In a pioneering move, the Congress party has taken a unique approach to shape its 2024 Lok Sabha election manifesto by crowd-sourcing ideas from the public. The party unveiled a dedicated website and email ID on Wednesday to invite suggestions, emphasizing the significance of making the manifesto a collective effort.
P. Chidambaram, the head of the Congress Manifesto Committee, addressed a press conference in Delhi, highlighting the party’s commitment to involving the public in the manifesto creation process. He stated that the upcoming manifesto would truly be a “people’s manifesto,” reflecting the diverse perspectives of the citizens.
“The present exercise is to receive suggestions from the members of the public. This will be a people’s manifesto. So it is important to gather as many suggestions as possible in the few weeks available to us,” Chidambaram emphasized.
“We want to involve the people of India in making the manifesto. We hope people from every walk of life will give their suggestions. We appeal and invite you to give suggestions you would like to be incorporated in the manifesto to make it a people’s manifesto,” he added.
Chidambaram announced that the party plans to conduct consultations in every state to gather diverse inputs. “The idea is to hold at least one consultation in each state. In some states, more than one public consultation may be held,” he explained.
This innovative approach by the Congress reflects a commitment to democratic principles and inclusivity, seeking to incorporate the aspirations and concerns of a wide cross-section of the Indian population into its electoral promises. The website and email ID serve as platforms for citizens to actively participate in shaping the political agenda for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
