Amalapuram : In a shocking revelation, the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Police have uncovered a distressing infant sale scam, wherein a woman was coerced into selling her ten-day-old baby.

The victim, Pasupuleti Varalakshmi, 34, who had been living alone in Amalapuram after her husband abandoned her, was allegedly pressured into this heart-wrenching act. Varalakshmi, who worked as a sweeper in a private bank and had been residing with Kotthapalli Ramu for three years, gave birth to a baby girl on September 25.

Ramu, driven by financial gain, is believed to have played a pivotal role in this illicit trade, threatening and enticing Varalakshmi into agreeing to the sale. On October 4, he transported the infant to Kakinada and sold it to undisclosed buyers, who subsequently resold the baby to a childless couple for Rs. 3.2 lakh. Tragically, Varalakshmi received only Rs. 1.4 lakh in return for her newborn.

Following the discovery of the scam and Ramu’s alleged misuse of Varalakshmi’s money, she courageously filed a complaint. The arrested individuals were presented in court and have been remanded to Rajamahendravaram Central Prison.

In a heartening turn of events, the police have ensured the safe return of the child to her mother, Varalakshmi, as they continue to probe this deeply distressing case.

The quake rattled the region at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), sending shockwaves of fear and destruction.

This latest tremor follows a series of seismic events that occurred just days ago northwest of the city of Herat. The Saturday quake, with a magnitude of 6.3, claimed the lives of over 2,000 people and reduced thousands of homes to rubble. The casualties from this catastrophic event soared to over 4,000, as confirmed by Mullah Saiq, spokesperson for Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA). The report underscores the uncertainty surrounding the conflict’s impact on the economy and highlights the potential for a budget deficit increase of at least 1.5% of GDP in the coming year.

This economic turmoil has already had a noticeable impact, with local stocks and bonds taking a hit, businesses and schools remaining closed, and disruptions in air travel to Tel Aviv. Despite efforts by the central bank, the shekel has weakened.

Watch // Black Balloons and Protests Mark Amit Shah’s Adilabad Visit as CCI Employees Demand Answers on Unfulfilled 2018 Promise

0

Adilabad : Tensions flared as protesters, armed with black balloons, made a bold attempt to obstruct the convoy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his journey to a public gathering in Adilabad, Telangana. Their demands were clear – they wanted Amit Shah to address the unresolved issues surrounding the Cement Corporation of India (CCI).

The dissatisfied employees, disillusioned by the government’s unfulfilled commitment to revitalize the struggling cement company, congregated at a pivotal junction, determined to bring Shah’s convoy to a standstill. Back in 2018, during an election rally, Amit Shah had made promises to rejuvenate the unit, yet progress had been scarce.

Their frustration reached a boiling point as they clashed with the police, protesting against the suppression of their demonstration. Draped in black scarves and wielding placards denouncing the central government, they passionately voiced their grievances.

The situation was eventually diffused, with the protesters being relocated to a local police station, where they were subsequently released later in the evening.

Twitter witnessed a flurry of activity as the hashtag #AmitShahGoBack trended, reflecting the public’s concerns and their call for resolution in the CCI matter.

0

Hyderabad : Union Home Minister Amit Shah engaged in an interactive session with intellectuals and professionals in Hyderabad, where he emphasized the importance of bringing the BJP to power in Telangana and the transformative potential of a “double engine government.”

During his address, Amit Shah directed his focus toward the professionals and intellectuals of the city, advocating for the BJP’s role in reshaping the state’s future. Notably, a significant portion of his speech revolved around the AIMIM party, as well as the alliance between the Congress and the BRS, aimed at preventing the BJP from gaining power. Shah contended that the development witnessed in Telangana over the past nine years was primarily a result of the efforts of the Modi government, rather than Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

The audience primarily comprised BJP supporters and admirers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with only a few individuals from minority communities participating in the interaction session.

Amit Shah’s outreach to intellectuals underscores the BJP’s efforts to consolidate support in Telangana ahead of the upcoming elections, as the party seeks to expand its footprint in the state.
