Rahul Gandhi emphasizes the need for a caste census as an ‘X-ray’ to uncover OBC issues during a Jan Akrosh Sabha in Madhya Pradesh.

0

Shahdol /MP : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during a public rally in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, pressed for a caste census, terming it an ‘X-ray’ that would reveal the ground realities faced by minority communities.

Gandhi declared, “We will compel the Centre to conduct a caste census, no matter what it takes. The caste census is an ‘X-ray’ to uncover the realities concerning the backward classes, Dalits, and tribals.”

Championing the cause of a caste census in the state, the Congress MP from Wayanad, Kerala, remarked, “The question before the nation is what rights should be accorded to Adivasis today? What share should be allocated to the OBC and ST categories? This is why we are advocating for the caste census… We will ensure it happens.”

Rahul Gandhi’s rally took place after the Election Commission announced the schedule for assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram, which will take place between November 7 and 30.

He took a swipe at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recalling a statement by Lal Krishna Advani that the BJP-RSS’s original laboratory was not in Gujarat but in Madhya Pradesh. Gandhi alleged that in the BJP’s laboratory, the deceased are neglected, and their funds are misappropriated.

Highlighting the agrarian crisis, Gandhi asserted, “In the BJP’s laboratory, three farmers commit suicide daily in Madhya Pradesh. Their deaths are ignored, and their hard-earned money is stolen. This situation is unique to Madhya Pradesh.”

Gandhi also drew attention to various issues in the state, including the Vyapam scandal, farmer suicides, and mistreatment of Adivasis, asserting that BJP’s leaders have disrespected indigenous communities in the state.

“In BJP’s laboratory, their leaders mistreat Adivasis. This is what Advani meant when he talked about a BJP-RSS laboratory being established in Madhya Pradesh,” concluded Rahul Gandhi.

Leaders from numerous Western nations, including Britain and Germany, have denounced the attacks launched by Hamas. Meanwhile, Arab nations have called for an immediate cessation of hostilities on both sides, emphasizing the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.

The Israeli military’s spokesperson announced on Tuesday that they have successfully regained control of the Gaza border. In response to repeated air raids on the Palestinian enclave, the Israeli forces have initiated the planting of mines in areas where Hamas militants had previously breached the barrier.

Israeli television channels reported a significant loss of life during a weekend assault by Hamas. They claimed that Hamas fighters killed approximately 900 people, including 260 at a desert music festival. In stark contrast, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported a Palestinian death toll of 687 as a result of retaliatory strikes.

With Israel on a heightened state of alert due to the conflict, a cabinet member from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party indicated that a national unity government could be established within hours. He went on to urge the international community to respond to the crisis and stand against the atrocities being committed, saying, “The world has to react and say no to the genocide against the people of Gaza, no to the genocide against the Palestinian people. The Christian world, the Muslim world, the Jewish world, the world of the South has to react. We have to wake up.”

New Delhi : Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, the President of All India Ulama Board, has condemned the ongoing bloody conflict in Palestine and heavy bombardment in residential areas, urging an immediate cessation. Maulana Madani has made an appeal to the international community, including global powers, the United Nations Security Council, and the World Muslim League, to intervene promptly in this matter. He stated that the people of India stand with Palestinians, who have been distressed for the past 75 years due to Israeli oppressive occupation and violence, forcing them to live in their own homeland like prisoners. Undoubtedly, the struggle of the Palestinian people is for the freedom of their homeland and the restoration of their first Qibla (the direction faced during Muslim prayers).

Maulana Madani emphasized that the root cause of this conflict is Israel’s illegal occupation and expansionist ideology in Palestinian territory. Observing the consequences of this war, it becomes essential to resolve it as per the defined principles of the United Nations, leading to the speedy establishment of an independent, self-governing Palestinian state free from Israeli dominance and persecution.

Maulana Madani expressed concern and dissatisfaction with the current shameful reporting on the war by the media in India. He criticized those who label the nation that fights for its rights as “terrorists.” He pointed out that notable figures in India, especially Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, have always supported the Palestinian cause. On this occasion, he urged the Prime Minister of India to sensitize Israel to play a constructive role in resolving the Palestine-Israel conflict. He recommended that instead of supporting Israel, India should use its influence to advocate for justice, establish lasting peace, and protect innocent lives in besieged cities. This approach serves the best interests of our nation and fulfills our humanitarian duty.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has pledged to implement the women’s reservation bill and conduct a nationwide caste census immediately if the Congress comes to power. He criticized the BJP for not implementing the women’s reservation bill and accused them of using it for publicity and votes

New Delhi : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the party’s commitment to swiftly implement the women’s reservation bill and conduct a nationwide caste census if the Congress comes to power. Addressing the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s apex decision-making body, Kharge criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not implementing the bill, which aims to reserve 33% of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

Kharge highlighted the Congress’s support for the women’s reservation bill and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of neglecting its immediate implementation. He emphasized that the bill was brought for publicity and vote bank purposes. The bill was recently approved by Parliament, but its implementation is pending until the next census and delimitation exercise, which will identify the specific seats allocated for women. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that the 33% quota for women would be effective after 2026.

During the CWC meeting, attended by former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, as well as chief ministers from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh, Kharge refuted BJP’s claims that the Congress obstructed women’s reservations, asserting that Congress had consistently empowered women in India. He pledged to implement women’s reservation along with ensuring political participation for OBC women if Congress assumes power in 2024.

Kharge also criticized the government’s failures and false propaganda. He urged party leaders to counter the ruling party’s attacks and misinformation, emphasizing the need to rebut lies and propaganda. Kharge called for a nationwide caste census to ensure social justice and rights for SCs, STs, and OBCs based on their population, a demand he highlighted while noting the government’s silence on the topic.

Furthermore, Kharge expressed concerns about the government’s indifference towards the discontent among government employees regarding the new pension scheme. He accused the central government of misusing federal investigating agencies to target political rivals, underlining the urgency to address these issues as the general elections approach.
