“Hyderabad Police Bust Fraudulent Vehicle Scheme: Three Arrested for Cheating Victim of Rs 3.54 Lakh”

0

Hyderabad : – Hyderabad Police nabbed three individuals for orchestrating a fraudulent scheme under the guise of selling Mahindra vehicles at discounted rates. The Cyber Crimes Police Station apprehended the suspects, identified as Tadi Naveen Kumar, Kancharla Madhu, and Srinivas Durga Prasad, all hailing from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.

The accused, posing as executives from Mahindra CIE Automotive Limited, duped their victim, V. Danie Ratnam, of over Rs 3.54 lakh. The perpetrators now face charges under sections 66 C and D of the Information Technology Act, along with sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police seized incriminating evidence during the arrests, which transpired following a complaint filed by Ratnam. According to the complainant, he received a call from an individual claiming to be G.S. Chandrasekhar, the General Manager (HR & Administration) at Mahindra CIE Automotive Limited. Chandrasekhar, posing as a former client of Ratnam’s security services, informed him of the need for security services at a new factory in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the ruse, Chandrasekhar also presented an opportunity for Ratnam to purchase brand new R&D and demo vehicles at discounted prices through the company’s annual auction. Trusting the credentials, Ratnam proceeded to book two Mahindra Bolero SLX vehicles, transferring Rs 3,54,236 to the provided account numbers between November 23 and 25.

Despite assurances of delivery by November 27, the vehicles never arrived. Attempts to contact Chandrasekhar proved futile as his mobile number was switched off. Further investigation revealed that the provided bank account belonged to an individual, leading Ratnam to realize he had fallen victim to a scam.

In light of this incident, police caution the public against trusting dubious offers of vehicles or mobile phones at reduced prices and advise skepticism towards unsolicited messages circulating through social media applications.

The disciplinary measures were initiated following complaints from first-year students in the zoology, economics, and commerce departments who alleged harassment by their seniors.

The affected juniors, residents of the Padmakshi hostel for women, endured three days of harassment before deciding to approach the university administration. The seniors reportedly subjected them to ragging on Friday night, prompting the victims to file a formal complaint.

The complainants revealed that they had refrained from reporting the matter earlier, choosing silence in the face of persistent harassment. However, as the situation escalated, the junior students opted to take a stand by reporting the incidents to the university officials.

Upon receiving the complaint, Prof. T Srinivas Rao, the Registrar of Kakatiya University, engaged with the university’s anti-ragging committee to address the matter. In response, both the first-year students and the accused seniors were summoned for counseling by their respective departments.

Notably, the university opted not to involve law enforcement, prioritizing the academic future of the students. Instead, the administration imposed a one-week suspension on the 81 students as a disciplinary measure aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility and curbing such incidents in the future.

Special Offer: Telangana Police Announces Massive Discounts on Pending Traffic Challans

0

Hyderabad : — In a landmark decision, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy approved significant discounts on pending traffic challans, a move aimed at providing relief to commuters. The announcement, made on Friday, outlines substantial reductions in fines, with an emphasis on facilitating compliance ahead of the Mega National Lok Adalath scheduled for December 30, 2023, under the auspices of the Telangana High Court.

According to the newly approved discount scheme, fines for two and three-wheelers will witness an impressive 80 percent reduction, while those for four-wheelers and large trucks will enjoy a substantial 60 percent discount. These discounts come into effect from December 26, 2023, allowing individuals with pending challans to benefit from the reduced fines.

To streamline the process, commuters with outstanding challans can clear them online from December 23, 2023, until January 19, 2023, through the E-challan traffic website. This user-friendly approach aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for residents of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, and beyond.

It is worth noting that similar discount offers in March 2022 witnessed widespread participation from commuters who seized the opportunity to settle their outstanding challans at reduced rates. However, recognizing the challenge faced by individuals in Telangana’s districts and rural areas due to a lack of information, authorities are urging broader dissemination to ensure wider participation in this beneficial initiative.

As part of the comprehensive discount program, special provisions have been made for specific cases, including push carts (39b cases) and RTC drivers, with a remarkable 90 percent waiver on fines. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers, such as bikes and autos, will enjoy an 80 percent discount, while light motor vehicles (LMVs), cars, four-wheelers, and heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) (trucks) can avail a 60 percent reduction.

This strategic initiative not only aims to alleviate the financial burden on commuters but also underscores the government’s commitment to a fair and accessible legal system. As the discount window opens on December 26, 2023, citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity and clear their pending challans promptly.
