WATCH// “No Modi or KCR Wave, Revanth Reddy Advocates ‘Kedi Wave’ for Political Disruption”

0

In a spirited address at LB Stadium in Hyderabad during a booth-level Congress workers meeting, CM Revanth Reddy expressed his views on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He confidently declared the absence of a Modi wave and instead asserted the rise of the “Kedi wave.” During his speech, Reddy emphasized the responsibility to challenge and weaken KCR (Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao), metaphorically stating that they must “strangulate” KCR, likening him to a tiger that needs decisive handling.

Reddy alleged that every vote for KCR indirectly supports Modi, drawing a connection between the local and national political scenarios. He asserted that the upcoming elections present an opportunity to counter the influence of both KCR and Modi.

Promising financial relief, Reddy announced the crediting of Rythu Bandhu money into 63 lakh farmer accounts by the end of February. Expressing his determination, he identified himself as a “mestri” (artisan) committed to reconstructing the perceived destruction in Telangana and addressing unemployment.

Taking a critical stance toward Modi and his political affiliations, Reddy questioned their roles during India’s fight for independence. He also criticized the absence of political figures similar to Vedma Bhojju in the current political landscape.

In a strategic move, Reddy rallied against KCR, associating him with those controlling sand, land, mines, and wine, while positioning Congress as the party for the poor.

Addressing the broader political scenario, Reddy underscored the need to challenge Modi or the “Kedi” (a term used to refer to opposition leaders) to halt Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Nyay Yatra. Expressing a desire to see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister, he outlined plans to remove influential figures like Billa Ranga (referring to KTR & Harish) from Telangana. Reddy likened this to a turning point in a movie, where the interval is almost done, and the next phase is set to begin, starting from Indravelly.

In a nod to the national picture, Reddy emphasized the importance of winning 14 seats in Delhi to pave the way for Rahul Gandhi’s ascension to the role of Prime Minister.

India Celebrates 75th Republic Day with “Viksit Bharat” and “Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka” Themes

0

Every year on January 26th, India joyously observes Republic Day, a momentous occasion that commemorates the adoption of the Constitution in 1950, signifying the nation’s transition into a republic. This historic event, rooted in India’s struggle for independence, holds great significance in the hearts of its citizens worldwide.

The distinguished chief guest for the 2024 Republic Day celebration is none other than French President Emmanuel Macron. The day’s festivities are intricately planned, featuring a spectacular parade and a vibrant display of India’s diverse cultural heritage. This celebration serves as a profound tribute to the nation’s unity, diversity, and progress.

The roots of Republic Day trace back to India’s hard-fought battle for independence from British rule. Following the attainment of freedom on August 15, 1947, India operated under the Government of India Act, 1935, without a permanent constitution. Under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a dedicated drafting committee toiled for almost three years, culminating in the official adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950. This transformative moment marked India’s emergence as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.

Republic Day serves as a symbol of pride for Indians globally, representing the culmination of the struggle for independence and the establishment of a self-governing nation. It pays homage to the democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution, guiding the nation’s trajectory. Additionally, Republic Day showcases India’s cultural richness and unity in diversity, exemplified through grand celebrations in New Delhi.

This special day underscores India’s unwavering commitment to justice, liberty, and equality, with the Constitution serving as the nation’s ultimate guiding document. It emphasizes democratic values, fostering citizen participation in decision-making and solidifying India’s status as a vibrant democracy.

Republic Day celebrations extend beyond mere festivities; they hold educational significance. Schools and colleges seize the opportunity to impart knowledge about the Constitution, the freedom struggle, and the essence of democratic governance. It becomes a moment for the younger generation to grasp and appreciate the historical values shaping the nation’s identity.

The focal point of Republic Day celebrations is the grand parade in the capital, where the President of India hoists the national flag at Rajpath. This is followed by a ceremonial march past showcasing military prowess, cultural diversity, and technological achievements. The armed forces’ presence, folk dances, and patriotic songs contribute to the beauty and spirit of the occasion.

The themes for Republic Day 2024, “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) and “Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka” (India – Mother of Democracy), encapsulate the nation’s aspirations and democratic ethos.

As India celebrates its 75th Republic Day, the themes reflect the collective vision for a developed nation and the foundational role of democracy. Looking ahead, these themes evoke contemplation about the challenges and successes that lie ahead, prompting the question – will we be successful in finding answers to the questions that arise in our minds? Telangana Drug Control Administration Cracks Down on Illicit Sale of Medicines Disguised as Food Products

0

In a significant operation, drug inspectors from the Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (TSDCA) have uncovered the illicit manufacturing and sale of medicines disguised as ‘food products/nutraceuticals.’ The crackdown revealed that certain drugs, including Glucosamine, Methyl sulfonyl methane, Diacerein Tablet, Pregabalin, and Methylcobalamin Capsules, were falsely produced under the cover of a food license at SL Health Care, located at IDA Prashanthi Nagar in Kukatpally and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.

During the raid, officials from the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) found that the company was engaged in the illegal manufacturing and sale of two products, namely ORTHO-D (Glucosamine 750 mg, Methyl Sulfonyl Methane 250mg, and Diacerin 50 mg Tablet) and Pregavit-M (Pregabalin 75 mg & Methylcobalamin 750 mcg Capsules), falsely labeled as food products/nutraceuticals.

Sales records indicated that ORTHO-D was supplied to Balaji Pharma, Narsaraopet, and Pregavit-M to Unity Drugs, Vaddera Bazar, Narsaraopet, with a total sales value of Rs. 2.90 lakh.

It was discovered that the drug ORTHO-D, consisting of Glucosamine 750 mg, Methyl Sulfonyl Methane 250 mg, and Diacerin 50 mg Tablet, was approved for the treatment of Osteoarthritis. Similarly, the product Pregabalin 75 mg and Methylcobalamin 750 mcg Capsules were approved for treating Peripheral Neuropathy in adult patients.

The unauthorized manufacturing and sale of these drugs, falsely labeled under a food license, raised concerns as they did not adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and failed to meet the quality standards specified in the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP). Such products pose serious health risks to patients. The act of manufacturing and selling these drugs without a valid drug license is a punishable offense under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with potential imprisonment of up to five years, as highlighted by DG, DCA, VB Kamalasan Reddy. The crackdown underscores the importance of stringent regulations to safeguard public health.

Telangana Governor Gives Nod to Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan as MLCs under Governor’s Quota

0

In a notable development, the Governor of Telangana, Tamilisai, has smoothly finalized the process of nominating Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) under the Governor’s quota. Last September, the Governor created waves by rejecting the BRS government’s recommendations for MLC posts, causing a stir in political circles. However, this time around, the MLC nomination procedure has concluded without any hiccups.

Governor Tamilisai has granted approval to the candidature of Professor M Kodandaram, the President of Telangana Jana Samithi, and Amer Ali Khan, the news editor of the Urdu newspaper The Siasat Daily. Both individuals are set to assume the MLC positions under the Governor’s quota.

This decision marks a departure from the previous term, where the Governor rejected the names proposed by BRS, emphasizing the need for a more ‘Gentlemanly’ approach. In contrast, this time, she has swiftly cleared the nomination file sent by the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, avoiding any disagreements.

Notably, Revanth Reddy had openly declared the party’s intention to confer the MLC post upon Professor Kodandaram, acknowledging his support during the Assembly elections. The Governor’s nod to these nominations underlines a smoother process and a departure from the tensions witnessed in the past, offering a glimpse of cooperative governance in the state.

In a heartbreaking incident, four Indians met a tragic end in a mass drowning episode at an unpatrolled beach on Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia, as confirmed by the Indian High Commission in Canberra on Thursday.

The victims, comprising a man and two women in their 20s, along with a woman in her 40s, were part of an extended family group enjoying their time at Forrest Caves Beach, a popular tourist spot known for its sea caves.

Emergency services received distress calls around 3:30 pm on January 24, reporting four individuals in distress in the water. Despite swift response efforts, the rescue teams found three women and a man unresponsive after being pulled from the water.

Tragically, despite immediate and intensive CPR, three of the victims were declared dead at the scene, marking a devastating turn of events for the extended family group. The man and two women lost their lives on-site, while the third woman in her 20s was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne in critical condition. Regrettably, she succumbed to her injuries later on.

Expressing condolences, the Indian High Commission shared the news on social media, stating, “Heartbreaking tragedy in Australia: 4 Indians lost their lives in a drowning incident at Phillip Island, Victoria. Deepest condolences to families of the victims. @cgimelbourne team is in touch with friends of the deceased for all necessary assistance.”

Phillip Island’s Forrest Caves Beach has gained popularity among tourists for its sea caves. However, the absence of lifeguard patrols and its reputation as a perilous swimming spot were highlighted in the aftermath of this tragic incident. Concerns about safety were echoed on social media, with a local resident warning against increased promotion of Phillip Island as a tourist destination, fearing it could lead to more incidents.

As investigations continue, the Indian community in Australia and beyond mourns the loss of these four lives, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness and safety measures at popular but potentially hazardous locations.

Supreme Court Questions Centre’s Rejection of Parliament Amendment in AMU Minority Status Case

0

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud expressed surprise over the Centre’s stance that it does not accept the 1981 amendment by Parliament conferring minority status on Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Presiding over a seven-judge Constitution Bench, CJI Chandrachud emphasized that “Parliament is an eternal and indestructible body under the Indian Union.”

He questioned Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, stating, “How can you not accept an amendment by the Parliament?” The CJI insisted that the government must stand by the 1981 amendment and has the option to go through the amending route to change it. Justice Sanjiv Khanna asked Mehta if the government accepted the amendment, to which Mehta replied, “I am not.”

Mehta argued that he was addressing constitutional questions before a seven-judge Constitution Bench and supported the 2006 view of the Allahabad High Court, which had declared the amendment unconstitutional. CJI Chandrachud stressed the supremacy of Parliament in its law-making function and criticized the idea that a law officer does not accept the validity of an amendment made by Parliament. The matter is scheduled to be heard next on January 30.

Centre Approves Handover of 3380 Sq Yd Defence Land for Mehdipatnam’s Skywalk

0

In a significant development, the Centre has granted approval for handing over 3380 sq yards of Defence land to facilitate the completion of Mehdipatnam’s Skywalk, a long-pending project initiated by the previous Government. The latest design for the Skywalk received the Centre’s nod on Wednesday, marking a crucial step towards the project’s realization. The completion of this major initiative in the Mehdipatnam area aims to alleviate pedestrian traffic congestion.

The breakthrough follows Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Delhi on January 5, where he met with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. During the meeting, Revanth Reddy sought 0.21 hectares of Defence land to finalize the construction of a Skywalk at Rythu Bazar in Mehdipatnam. The objective is to address both traffic congestion and ensure safe passage for pedestrians. The Chief Minister highlighted that the Skywalk construction was nearly complete but faced delays due to the pending transfer of Defence land for the project.

The positive response from the Centre prompted the Chief Minister to revise the plan in alignment with the Defence Zone’s requirements. The Centre, in agreeing to provide 3380 sq yards of land, has stipulated the provision of basic amenities for Defence worth Rs 15.15 crores. The land handover is expected within the next four weeks, paving the way for the Skywalk’s completion. With these developments, the hurdles for the major project are cleared, and pedestrians can anticipate unrestricted movement over the Mumbai Highway in the coming months, as per officials.
