Hyderabad :- BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for what he deemed a discriminatory treatment towards minority communities by denying them due representation in the State cabinet. Rao emphasized that, for the first time since 1953, minorities were excluded from a cabinet berth.
Speaking at a meeting of the party’s minority wing at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, Rao attributed this omission to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s RSS roots, alleging a vindictive stance against minorities for their substantial support to the BRS during the Assembly polls.
Rao criticized the appointment of Mohammed Shabbir Ali as an advisor instead of including a minority leader in the cabinet, considering it an insult to the minority community. He accused the Congress leadership of competing with the BJP in denying minorities their rightful representation, viewing them merely as a vote bank.
Assigning blame to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, Rao held him fully responsible for recent communal incidents in the State. He highlighted communal clashes in Sangareddy, Nalgonda, and other places on January 22, asserting that the government had failed to take decisive action.
Warning minorities about the Congress and BJP’s collaboration, Rao claimed the two parties were working together due to a strong ‘Fevical bonding.’ He alleged that the Congress would field non-serious candidates in parliamentary polls against the BJP nominees to aid them in winning.
Rao underscored the BRS’s commitment to minority welfare during its governance, citing significant efforts in education sector development. He attributed the substantial minority support in the assembly polls to the secular credentials of the BRS leadership.
Hyderabad: – In a surprising move, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) opted for an autorickshaw for his commute on Saturday after attending a review meeting for the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency. Following the session, KTR chose to travel from Yousufguda to the Telangana Bhavan in the autorickshaw, demonstrating a down-to-earth approach.
During the journey, KTR occupied the backseat, accompanied by Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, who sat in the front seat with the driver. Notably, another autorickshaw followed, carrying the security personnel for both KTR and Gopinath. The video capturing this unusual mode of transport has since gone viral.
This move aligns with the BRS’s recent efforts to address the challenges faced by auto drivers in the state. The party has formed a dedicated committee to assess and review the issues arising post the implementation of the free bus ride for women scheme by the State Government. KTR’s choice of an autorickshaw ride serves as a symbolic gesture, bringing attention to the concerns of auto drivers in Telangana.
Patna :- As Bihar witnesses a political storm with speculations of Nitish Kumar considering an alliance with the BJP, political parties convened on Saturday to assess the evolving situation. In a crucial meeting of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), party leader Lalu Yadav was given the authority to navigate through the twists and turns of state politics.
During the RJD meeting, Tejashwi Yadav hinted at the likelihood of unforeseen developments. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, expressed respect for Nitish Kumar within the RJD but acknowledged that certain factors were beyond the Chief Minister’s control. Reports suggest that the game is far from over in Bihar, with RJD MLAs instructed to stay in Patna and keep their phones active.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been dispatched to Patna as a senior observer to monitor the unfolding events.
The Congress party disclosed its efforts to reach out to Nitish Kumar, with Mallikarjun Kharge attempting to contact the Chief Minister multiple times. However, due to conflicting schedules, a conversation is yet to take place, as stated by Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh.
In the Saturday party meeting, Tejashwi hinted at potential surprises, stating, “Bihar mein abhi khel hona baki hain” (The game is yet to begin in Bihar). He emphasized the progress made in the state under his leadership, addressing issues such as jobs, caste census, and increased reservation.
Responding to speculations, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge remarked, “Are they (JD(U)) going out? I have not got any information about it so far.” The Bihar BJP core committee also met on Saturday, with Union Minister Giriraj Singh affirming that Nitish Kumar remains the Chief Minister.
BJP President JP Nadda, in a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lok Janshankti Party President Chirag Pawan, discussed the evolving situation. Chirag Pawan emphasized the need for clarity on whether Nitish Kumar is joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Amid the political turmoil, Nitish Kumar continued with his official duties, laying the foundation for the second phase of development works in Buxar’s Brahmpur on Saturday.
JD(U) leader KC Tyagi criticized the Congress for consistently disrespecting Nitish Kumar and clarified that Nitish Kumar rejected the position of convener within the INDIA bloc.
The RJD, with 79 MLAs, leads the ‘Mahagathbandhan,’ consisting of the Congress, three Left parties, and the JD(U). If the JD(U) withdraws from the alliance, it will fall eight members short of a majority in the Bihar Assembly.

In a crucial interim ruling, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has called on Israel to implement all necessary measures to prevent acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip. The decision comes in response to emergency measures sought by South Africa in its genocide case against Israel.
The court’s directive, while emphasizing the need for Israel to take action, falls short of mandating an immediate ceasefire. The judges have refrained from passing judgment on the merits of the genocide allegations, a process expected to unfold over the course of several years.
Since the commencement of Israel’s military campaign on October 7, the toll stands at a devastating 26,083 lives lost and 64,487 individuals wounded in Gaza, as reported by local officials. Additionally, thousands remain missing, presumed dead, buried under the rubble caused by the ongoing conflict.
