New Delhi: The 29th annual session of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) will be held on November 23-24, 2024, at Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashad campus on Tannery Road in Bengaluru. The announcement was made during a press conference in Bengaluru on November 2, 2024. This marks the third time AIMPLB’s conference is being hosted in Bengaluru, following past gatherings in 1975 and 2000.
This year’s session gains special significance given the unique challenges facing Islamic laws and practices in India under current socio-political conditions. Prominent scholars, religious leaders, and intellectuals from across the country will attend to address these challenges. The conference will start on the morning of November 23 and conclude in the afternoon of November 24, with a grand public gathering scheduled at Eidgah Quddus Saheb on Millers Road that evening. The theme of this public address is “Protection of Sharia and Waqf,” featuring speeches by prominent ulemas and community leaders from across India.
The event will close with the issuance of the “Bengaluru Declaration,” underscoring the board’s commitment to safeguarding waqf properties, a matter of urgent concern nationwide. AIMPLB has been at the forefront of defending waqf rights and opposing legislative proposals that threaten these properties. In a historic show of solidarity, millions of Muslims recently rallied in response to the board’s call, protesting against recent legislative drafts that endanger waqf assets.
