In a historic moment, the Andhra Pradesh government has revealed the world’s tallest statue of BR Ambedkar, recognized as the architect of the Indian Constitution, today in Vijayawada. Soaring to a height of 206 feet, the ‘Statue of Social Justice’ now ranks among the top 50 tallest statues globally, with Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s ‘Statue of Unity’ claiming the top spot.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed pride, stating, “The 206 feet Mahashilpam of Ambedkar erected by our government in Vijayawada is a symbol not only for the state but also for the country.”

This monumental statue surpasses the previous record, held by a 175-feet tall Ambedkar statue in neighboring Telangana. Notably, the world’s tallest Ambedkar statue stands 125-feet tall and is elevated on an 81-feet pedestal.

Constructed as a complete ‘Made in India’ project, the statue, requiring ₹404.35 crore, sprawls across 18.81 acres of a lush green park. Approximately 400 tonnes of steel contributed to the creation of the ‘Statue of Justice.’

The development around the statue is comprehensive, featuring a redeveloped area surrounding Swaraj Maidan. Water bodies, a musical water fountain, and LED screens showcasing Ambedkar’s life enhance the grandeur. Additionally, a convention centre with a 2,000 seating capacity, an 8,000 sq ft food court, and a children’s play area have been integrated into the site, making it a multifaceted and culturally rich destination.
