Warangal, September 24, 2024 — A controversial case has emerged in Warangal, where police allegedly registered a false FIR against eight minors to assist a car owner in claiming insurance money. The incident, which took place on August 5, has sparked outrage across social media, with many criticizing the police’s actions.
The case originated when K. Raju, a police constable residing at Ramnagar Tower Apartment in Hanamkonda, lodged a complaint with Subedari police. Raju claimed that while he was out of town on official duty, eight minors from the same apartment complex damaged his car and wrote objectionable remarks about his daughter on the vehicle.
However, on Tuesday, the parents of the accused minors refuted these claims, accusing the constable of framing their children to fraudulently obtain the insurance money. They revealed that the car in question actually belongs to Bethi Anusha, a resident of Uppugal village in Jangaon district, not Raju. According to them, Raju had no legal right to file a complaint on her behalf.
Parents Question Police Procedure
The parents further criticized the police for filing the FIR without conducting a proper investigation. “The police lodged an FIR without even visiting our society. How can an FIR be filed without a probe? It’s been 45 days, and not a single officer has come to check the facts,” they said during a press briefing. Their statements have added fuel to the already growing skepticism surrounding the case.
Social Media Backlash
The issue has quickly gained traction on various social media platforms in Warangal, with many netizens expressing outrage over the apparent misuse of police power. Critics argue that filing a false FIR to facilitate an insurance claim sets a dangerous precedent.
Police Response
In response to the backlash, Subedari Inspector P. Satyanarayana Reddy downplayed the severity of the situation, stating that the case was filed primarily to meet insurance requirements. “This is not a serious case. We registered the FIR because, without it, insurance companies won’t release the claim to the car owner,” Reddy explained.
The incident has raised serious questions about the integrity of the investigation and the role of the police in allegedly aiding an insurance fraud. Further developments are awaited as the story continues to unfold.
