Hyderabad : – In a noteworthy move, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has taken a significant decision to discontinue the Family-24 (F-24) and T-6 tickets within the Greater Hyderabad region. According to an official announcement by the TSRTC management, the cancellation of these tickets will be effective from Monday, January 01, 2024.

Initially introduced for the convenience of family members and friends, the F-24 tickets allowed a family of four to travel for 24 hours at a cost of Rs. 300 on weekends and holidays. Meanwhile, the T-6 tickets provided 6 hours of travel between 10 am and 4 pm for women and senior citizens at a discounted rate of Rs. 50. It is noteworthy that the prices of these special tickets were recently reduced by the RTC management during the tenure of the former BRS government.

The decision to withdraw these special tickets comes in light of increased passenger traffic following the launch of the Mahalakshmi scheme. TSRTC Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, confirmed the discontinuation, stating, “Family-24 and T-6 tickets will be completely withdrawn beginning January 01, 2024.” Sajjanar explained that the issuance of these tickets required conductors to verify identity cards and note down passenger details, causing delays in service. With RTC buses operating at above capacity since the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme, streamlining the service by eliminating this verification process became imperative, he added.
