In a significant development, Hyderabad witnessed the resignations of prominent Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) – Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Kadiam Srihari, and Padi Kaushik Reddy. The trio, who recently secured victories as Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the assembly elections from Janagaon, Station Ghanpur, and Huzurabad constituencies, respectively, have stepped down from their MLC positions.

As per regulatory protocols, any elected member must tender their resignation within 15 days of being elected to another legislative body. The Election Commission is now poised to conduct elections to fill the vacated MLC positions within the next six months.

The resignation letters were formally submitted to the Chairman of the Legislative Council, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, who duly accepted their resignations. This move prompts a series of adjustments in the legislative landscape of Telangana.

Adding another layer to this reshuffle, Kadiam Srihari and Padi Kaushik Reddy are set to make a transition from their MLA roles to reclaim seats as MLCs. Both have successfully contested as MLC candidates under the MLA quota in the recently concluded 2021 Legislative Council elections.
