Hyderabad :-In an impressive display of skill and determination, Lahiri Komaravelly from Udbhav School Rasoolpura, representing Hyderabad district, dominated the competition by securing victories in all three races on the opening day of the Telangana State Sailing Championships at Hussain Sagar, Hyderabad.

The Sub Juniors category witnessed Lahiri’s stellar performance, showcasing the prowess of girl power. The Girls and Boys competed together in a single fleet, providing an opportunity for a larger and more competitive race.

Lahiri’s remarkable achievement was closely followed by her sister, Deekshita, who finished a close second. Despite a somewhat subdued performance, top seed Bunny Bongur of Vikarabad managed to secure the top position among the boys.

Surprising everyone, Vinodh Dundoo and Sathwik Dhoki emerged as the dark horses, clinching the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, in the boys’ category.

The light winds played a crucial role, favoring Lahiri, who weighs just 31 kgs, while her sister, at 45 kgs, faced a significant disadvantage in the under 16 championships.

Looking ahead, the Juniors are set to sail on the following day, along with the light fleet equipped with half-rig sails specially designed for the lightest sailors.
