Hyderabad, July 25: The Telangana government has unveiled a state budget of Rs 2.91 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, as presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in the assembly. Former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was present as the Leader of Opposition.
Key highlights of the budget include:
- Total Budget: Rs 2.91 lakh crore allocated for FY 2024-25.
- Revenue Expenditure: Rs 2.21 lakh crore; Capital Expenditure: Rs 33,487 crore.
- Debt Accumulation: Telangana’s total debt stands at Rs 6.71 lakh crore over the past decade.
- Revenue Breakdown: Estimated revenue comprises Rs 1,38,181.26 crore from own revenue, Rs 35,208.44 crore from non-tax revenue, and Rs 26,216.38 crore from tax revenue.
- Fiscal Deficit: Rs 49,255.41 crore; Revenue Surplus: Rs 297.42 crore.
- Sector Allocations:
- Agriculture: Rs 72,659 crore
- Education: Rs 21,292 crore
- Irrigation: Rs 22,301 crore
- Panchayat Raj and Rural Development: Rs 29,816 crore
- Capital Development: Rs 10,000 crore allocated for Hyderabad’s development.
- Health Sector: Rs 11,468 crore
- Government Reforms: Emphasis on financial discipline, controlling expenditure, and ensuring timely payment of salaries and pensions.
- GSDP: Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2023-24 is projected at Rs 14,63,963 crore, reflecting an 11.9% growth.
