
Nizamabad: In a shocking incident, a rabid stray dog went on a biting spree, attacking 11 children aged below 12 in Armoor town on Saturday. The injured children were rushed to a government hospital for immediate treatment.
Details of the Incident:
The rampage began in the morning and lasted until late evening when the dog was finally captured. The attacks occurred in the Gole Bungalow area and nearby colonies, with the first two victims being attacked in Gole Bungalow colony. The canine then moved to surrounding colonies, leaving a trail of injuries and fear among residents.
Recurring Concern:
This is not the first instance of stray dog attacks in Telangana.
- Hyderabad, February 2023: A 4-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs in the Amberpet area, sparking widespread outrage.
- Warangal, March 2022: In another alarming case, stray dogs attacked five schoolchildren, prompting urgent calls for sterilization and stray management programs.
- Khammam, January 2021: A similar incident saw a rabid dog bite eight people, raising questions about the effectiveness of municipal efforts in managing stray populations.
Resident Concerns and Demands:
Residents of Armoor town have expressed growing frustration over the increasing number of stray dogs in their neighborhoods. They believe the situation poses a significant risk to children, the elderly, and pedestrians.
A resident from Gole Bungalow colony stated, “The authorities must take immediate steps to address the stray dog menace. This is a recurring issue, and lives are at stake.”

The community has urged the Municipal authorities to implement effective measures such as:
