Dallas, USA: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in the United States on a three-day visit to foster stronger ties between India and the U.S. His visit, scheduled from September 8 to 10, will include various high-profile meetings and interactions aimed at enhancing diplomatic, social, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Upon his arrival at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Gandhi received a warm reception from the Indian diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress. Expressing his gratitude in a Facebook post, Gandhi wrote, “I am truly delighted by the warm welcome I’ve received in Dallas, Texas, USA, from the Indian Diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress.” He further stated his eagerness to engage in “meaningful discussions and insightful conversations” that could contribute to further strengthening the India-America relationship.

The Congress party shared his arrival via a post on social media platform X, describing the reception as “warm and enthusiastic.” Sam Pitroda, the chairperson of the Indian Overseas Congress, clarified that Gandhi’s visit is not in an official capacity but as a chance to engage with various individuals and institutions on Capitol Hill at a more personal level.

During the three-day tour, Gandhi is set to participate in discussions at prestigious institutions such as Georgetown University in Washington DC and the University of Texas in Dallas. Pitroda added that Gandhi’s visit would also include a press interaction at the National Press Club, discussions with think tanks, and significant dialogues at Georgetown University.

Gandhi’s visit holds political significance, marking his first trip to the U.S. since taking over as the Leader of Opposition in the Indian Parliament. This outreach to the Indian-American community is part of Congress’ broader strategy to strengthen ties with influential diaspora members ahead of India’s general elections.

The visit also provides an opportunity for Gandhi to engage with a diverse audience, including academics, business leaders, and community members, as he continues his efforts to present a vision for India’s future on the global stage.
