Hyderabad: – On the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, attention was drawn nationwide to a copy of his resignation letter from the Indian Civil Services. The dated letter, April 22, 1921, discloses Bose’s decision to forgo a promising career in the ICS to actively participate in the freedom struggle.
Sharing the historic document, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan posted on ‘X’ on Tuesday, stating, “On April 22, 1921, Subhash #Bose resigned from the Indian Civil Service to participate in the Freedom struggle. For a greater cause. He was 24 years old then. His original resignation letter from service. Tribute on his birth anniversary (sic).”
In the significant resignation letter addressed to the then Secretary of State for India, Edwin Montagu, Bose explicitly conveyed his wish to be removed from the list of probationers in the Indian Civil Service. He mentioned receiving a 100-pound allowance during his probationary period, committing to remit this amount to the India office upon the acceptance of his resignation.
On social media, users commemorated Bose’s birth anniversary by sharing his quotes and significant historical events. Notably, since last year, January 23 has been observed as ‘Parakram Diwas’ in tribute to Subhas Chandra Bose.
