Hyderabad, September 26, 2024: Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) celebrated its Commencement Day 2024 for newly admitted BE students alongside the unveiling of a Formula Racing Vehicle designed by its Mechanical Engineering students. The event took place on the picturesque Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society (SUES) Green Campus in Banjara hills, Hyderabad.
The Commencement Day event featured Shri N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Minister for Irrigation, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Civil Supplies, Government of Telangana, as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Minister praised the stunning SUES campus and lauded the dynamic leadership of Zafar Javeed, Honorary Secretary of SUES. Sharing personal anecdotes from his career, the Minister recounted his time at the National Defence Academy (NDA) and his experiences flying MiG21 and MiG23 aircraft, encouraging students to explore career opportunities with the NDA. “The age of 18 is the right age to start shaping your career,” he advised the students, motivating them to seize every opportunity for learning and growth.
He further highlighted the potential of SUES, which educates over 10,000 students, to evolve into an Autonomous Institute or University under the leadership of Zafar Javeed. Additionally, he emphasized Telangana’s contribution to producing a large number of engineering graduates, especially in Computer Science, many of whom are employed in Silicon Valley, USA. Recognizing the contributions of Zafar Javeed as Senior Vice President of TPCC and Aamer Javeed, SUES Board Member and Youth Congress leader, the Minister praised their efforts to uplift the state and education system. He concluded his speech by advising students to balance life, learning, and exploring opportunities both within the state and abroad.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Principal of MJCET, who highlighted the academic and co-curricular achievements of students and faculty, and discussed SUES initiatives like the Drone Center of Excellence to foster research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Zafar Javeed, Honorary Secretary of SUES, thanked the Chief Guest for gracing the event and acknowledged the efforts of students, faculty, and staff in bringing laurels to the institution.
On the same day, Mechanical Engineering students of MJCET unveiled their Formula Racing Vehicle, designed for participation in the National Level Engineering Student Formula Car Racing Competition, SUPRA SAE INDIA 2024, to be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida from October 2-5, 2024. MJCET’s racing team, led by captain Mohammed Jawad Ahmed and vice-captains Mohammed Rayhan Khaleel, along with pilots Doula Shaikh and Muzaffar Ahmed, will compete against 60 shortlisted teams from across the nation, including top institutions like NITs and IITs.
The vehicle, powered by a 400cc Dominar engine with a torque of 35 Nm, boasts a top speed of 120 km/h and weighs around 210 kg. The vehicle will undergo rigorous technical inspections before participating in both static and dynamic events, culminating in the endurance race. The project was completed under the guidance of Dr. Mohammed Viquar Mohiuddin, Professor & Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and coordinated by Mr. Ahmed Abdul Muneem, Assistant Professor, with sponsorship from the Sultan-ul-Uloom Educational Society.
The vehicle was flagged off by Shri N Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with Zafar Javeed and other SUES dignitaries during the Commencement Day ceremony. The Minister and dignitaries expressed their best wishes to the team for the upcoming competition.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gouri R Patil, Head of the Information Technology Department. Prof. Ferhatullah Hussainy, Dean of Student Affairs, MJCET, was also present. Principals of other SUES colleges, faculty, students, and parents attended the event in large numbers.
