Hyderabad: The phone tapping controversy in Telangana has escalated, sparking political turmoil. Following the arrest of several police officials in connection with the case, accusations have surfaced implicating former minister and BRS leader KT Rama Rao, alleging threats directed at film actresses.
In response to the allegations, KTR addressed the media in a press conference, vehemently denying any involvement in phone tapping activities. He labeled the accusations as part of a ‘smear campaign’ orchestrated by the current administration against him. KTR emphasized that he never instructed officials to tap the phones of Tollywood heroines nor had any communication with them.
The controversy took a legal turn when Congress minister Konda Surekha accused KTR of involvement in the phone tapping case. In retaliation, KTR announced his intention to pursue legal action against Surekha, as well as Congress legislators Yennam Srinivas Reddy and KK Mahender Reddy. Legal notices were served demanding a public apology from the Congress leaders for their remarks.
In a bold move, KTR challenged Revanth Reddy to initiate a probe into the phone tapping case dating back to 2004. He highlighted previous accusations made by Congress MPs, including current minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who alleged phone tapping by the Congress government in 2011.
