Bengaluru: – Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, reiterated on Saturday the state government’s dedication to the construction of the Parallel Balancing Reservoir near Navali across the Tungabhadra River. Speaking to the media, he confirmed that letters have been sent to the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, seeking time to discuss the project, given its involvement with all three states.
“The Deputy Chief Minister informed media persons, “Our government is fully committed to building this balancing reservoir.”
Highlighting the demands from Koppal district in-charge minister and MLAs of Koppal and Bellary districts, DK Shivakumar noted that the Andhra Pradesh administration is yet to allocate time, possibly due to upcoming elections. He emphasized the importance of a tripartite discussion among Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh to address the utilization of excess 30 TMC of water, deeming it beneficial to all states involved.
DK Shivakumar pointed out that the Chief Minister has previously discussed the project in the Legislative Assembly, expressing optimism about its progression this time. Attending the mega fair of the Gavi Siddeshwara Mutt, he lauded the social revolution initiated by the mutt’s seer in the region.
“I have come here as a representative of the government to support and encourage the good work of the Mutt. We are with the people of this region,” he affirmed, expressing his happiness to participate in the event.
