Hyderabad: In a recent development, a special team from the Hyderabad Central Crime Station apprehended a four-member gang involved in cheating a businessman out of Rs 3 crore. The group had lured the victim with the promise of selling a magnetic copper pot, ostensibly employed in space research.
Hyderabad’s Central Crime Station operatives take swift action, detaining four individuals behind a Rs 3 crore scam where they duped a businessman with claims of a magnetic copper pot capable of attracting immense wealth in the realm of space research.
According to the police, the fraudsters approached the businessman, claiming they possessed a unique utensil charged by thunderbolt. They convinced him that this item had the extraordinary ability to attract large sums, potentially running into crores, if sold through proper channels to prestigious space research institutions like NASA and ISRO.
ACP G Venkateshwara Reddy stated, “The gang, after persuading the businessman about the utensil’s ‘rice-pulling’ or attracting capabilities, which are highly sought after in space research worldwide, managed to collect Rs 3 crore from him. Subsequently, upon realizing that he had been deceived, the victim promptly reported the incident to the police.”
Investigations revealed that the arrested gang members, namely N Vijay Kumar, R Sai Baradwaj, M Santosh, and U Surender, had utilized the ill-gotten money to purchase a car and cover other expenses.
