Hyderabad, – The Telangana High Court has delivered a significant ruling, reaffirming the state government’s stance to reserve 100 percent of competitive authority quota seats in medical colleges established after June 2, 2014, exclusively for Telangana students. This landmark judgment has garnered praise from Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao, who extended his best wishes to all aspiring medical students from Telangana, as they will now benefit from an additional 520 seats.

Minister Harish Rao took to Twitter to commend the judgment as a momentous step toward ensuring equitable access to medical education. He remarked, “This is a welcome development. The state government’s commitment to establishing a government medical college in every district and ensuring that the resulting MBBS seats primarily benefit Telangana students is commendable.”

Thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s initiatives, an extra 1,300 MBBS seats have already been allocated to Telangana students by reserving 85 percent of the MBBS ‘B’ category seats for local students. With the recent High Court verdict, an additional 520 medical seats are now designated for Telangana students, raising the total number of MBBS seats available to them to 1,820 annually.
