Hyderabad :- In light of continuous rains within the GHMC limits of Ranga Reddy district, the district administration has declared a holiday for schools on Tuesday. Meanwhile, headmasters in the remaining rural areas of the district have been instructed to assess the condition of school buildings and road connectivity. They may declare a holiday if deemed necessary.

However, Hyderabad district administration has decided not to declare a holiday for schools in the city. “We have not declared a holiday for schools in Hyderabad,” stated Rohini, DEO Hyderabad.

The School Education Department has reportedly directed district administrations to declare holidays based on local conditions. Yesterday, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri recorded the highest rainfall at 170.3 mm, while Khairatabad in Hyderabad saw 126.8 mm. Consequently, several schools in Hyderabad have opted to declare a holiday today.

Though the recent heavy rainfall has brought much-needed relief from intense heat and humidity, it has also posed challenges for residents. Waterlogging has become a significant issue across Hyderabad, with roads submerged in low-lying areas, causing traffic disruptions and inconvenience for commuters.

Aside from declaring school holidays, it remains to be seen what steps the government will take to mitigate the difficulties faced by the public. Yesterday, just one hour of rain turned all roads into lakes, with motorcycles and cars submerged in water. The public is also advised to plan their activities and take precautions in anticipation of the rain.
