Union Home Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, started bleeding from the nose while addressing the media after a coordination committee meeting of the BJP and JD-S leaders in Bengaluru. The incident occurred on Sunday, following a series of events Kumaraswamy attended throughout the day. He visited a temple in Nanjangud, then held meetings in Mysuru, and later participated in a meeting with BJP and JD-S leaders in Bengaluru. While addressing the media alongside former Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra, and Opposition leader R. Ashoka, Kumaraswamy suddenly suffered a nosebleed. Blood was seen splattered on his white shirt. Despite the situation, Kumaraswamy remained composed, asked Yediyurappa to continue the media interaction, and stepped aside while pressing a hand towel to his nose.
He was immediately taken to Apollo Hospital in the Jayanagar locality by his son, actor-turned-politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and other senior JD-S leaders. Hospital authorities are currently examining Kumaraswamy to determine the cause of the nosebleed. An initial suspicion is that blood thinner medication may have caused the bleeding. An official statement from the hospital is awaited. It is noteworthy that Kumaraswamy had previously undergone heart surgery, which could be relevant to his current condition.
