Washington, D.C. – In a recent development, First Lady Jill Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. Despite this diagnosis, she is reportedly experiencing only mild symptoms, according to her spokeswoman.

Following the first lady’s positive test result, President Joe Biden also underwent testing for the virus. Fortunately, his results came back negative. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has stated that the president will continue regular testing and will be closely monitored for any symptoms.

Jill Biden will be staying at the couple’s home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the time being, as confirmed by communications director Elizabeth Alexander. Her positive diagnosis has led to adjustments in her plans to start the new school year at Northern Virginia Community College, where she teaches English and writing. School officials are now working with her to arrange substitute teachers for her classes.

It is worth noting that the first lady had recently traveled with her husband to Florida on Saturday to inspect the damage caused by Hurricane Idalia.

President Biden had spent part of the Labor Day weekend at their Delaware beach house before traveling to a union event in Philadelphia on Monday, followed by his return to the White House. Notably, both President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden had previously contracted COVID-19 last summer.
