Hyderabad – In a significant achievement, the Cyberabad Police have successfully recovered 570 stolen or lost mobile phones valued at ₹1.50 crore within the past 25 days. These recovered phones were returned to their rightful owners during a special event held on Friday at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate.
The recovery operation was spearheaded by DCP Crimes K. Narasimha, with various police wings collaborating to locate and retrieve the stolen devices. The team utilized the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a powerful tool designed to track and recover lost or stolen mobile phones across India.
At the event, DCP Narasimha provided an overview of the department’s recent success in combating mobile theft. He revealed that over the last eight months, the Cyberabad Police have managed to recover a total of 2,696 stolen mobile phones. Of these, 1,200 were recovered in the last three months alone, with 570 recovered in just the last 25 days, reflecting the efficiency and dedication of the police force.
Breaking down the recovery statistics, Narasimha noted that among the 1,200 phones retrieved in the past three months, the contributions from various police stations were notable. Specifically, 101 phones were recovered by the Madhapur CCS, 87 by the Rajendranagar CCS, 100 by the Shamshabad CCS, 95 by the Medchal CCS, 97 by the Balanagar CCS, and 90 by the IT Cell.
DCP Narasimha stressed the importance of persistence in the face of relentless criminal activity. He encouraged citizens to report lost or stolen phones promptly, either at their nearest police station or through the CEIR portal, which is accessible online across all states and union territories. He emphasized that the CEIR portal is instrumental in preventing the misuse of stolen phones and ensuring their swift recovery.
This latest recovery effort by the Cyberabad Police serves as a reminder of the importance of using available resources to protect valuable personal property and highlights the effectiveness of modern technology in supporting law enforcement efforts.
