Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police uncovered a drug party at a hotel in Madhapur, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, including well-known choreographer Kanha Mahanthi, on Monday. According to authorities, the event was organized by noted architect Priyanka Reddy.
Kanha Mahanthi, who gained fame through his participation in popular TV shows like Dhee, was reportedly among the attendees. During the raid, police seized MDMA and two other types of narcotic substances, adding to the seriousness of the case.
Details of the Operation
Acting on a tip-off, Madhapur police conducted a swift raid at the hotel premises. While several attendees managed to flee, the police arrested four individuals and seized significant quantities of illicit substances. Authorities have initiated an investigation to trace the source of the drugs and identify the network involved.
Similar Incidents in Hyderabad
Hyderabad has witnessed a rising trend in drug-related activities, with several high-profile cases coming to light in recent months. In July, the Hyderabad Police busted a rave party at a farmhouse in Moinabad, where over a dozen individuals, including some celebrities, were arrested. In another case earlier this year, Banjara Hills police apprehended a gang supplying cocaine to elite circles in the city.
Despite stringent measures, the infiltration of drugs into high-profile social gatherings continues to be a challenge for law enforcement. The Cyberabad Police have emphasized their commitment to tackling drug abuse and warned party organizers against indulging in such illegal activities.
Police Statement
A senior police official stated, “We have zero tolerance for drug-related offenses. The arrested individuals will face strict legal action, and we are also investigating the involvement of others who fled the scene.”
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by the Cyberabad Police to curb the growing menace of drug abuse, particularly in upscale areas like Madhapur. Further arrests and actions are expected as investigations deepen.
