An elderly man was found murdered at his shop in Begum Bazar on Sunday morning.

The victim, Hakeem (70), a resident of Moghalpura, ran a battery repair shop at Feelkhana, Begum Bazar. When he didn’t return home on Saturday night, his son Khaleel went to the shop on Sunday morning and found Hakeem lying dead in a pool of blood.

“Some persons had repeatedly hit the man on his head with a tool, leading to his death. Efforts are on to identify and arrest the assailant,” said an official of Begum Bazar police station. The police clues team visited the spot and collected some material evidence. A tracker dog was also deployed to assist the investigators.

A case has been registered.

In another incident, a man killed his father over a property issue at Mailardevpally on Saturday night.

S. Kistappa, a native of Yadgiri district of Karnataka, had been living with his wife and son at Pragathi Colony for the past few years. There were ongoing issues between Kistappa and his son, Mahender (24), concerning ancestral land.

“Mahender wanted his father to sell the land and give him the money, but Kistappa refused. On Saturday night, an argument ensued between them, and in a fit of rage, Mahender killed his father,” said Mailardevpally Inspector P. Narendar.
