Hyderabad, December 26, 2024: The Deccan Cultural Organisation, in collaboration with the Department of Language & Culture, Government of Telangana, hosted a grand celebration, “Jashn-E-Mohd Rafi – Ek Shaam Rafi Ke Naam,” to mark the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi. The event took place at the Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium, drawing music enthusiasts and dignitaries from across the region.
The evening was graced by captivating performances from celebrated artists, including Amjad Khan, Antara from Kolkata, Anjali Srivastav, Salman, Ramana (playback singer), and Tahseen. Their soulful renditions of Mohammed Rafi’s iconic songs brought his golden melodies to life. The event was seamlessly anchored by K.B. Jani, whose eloquence added charm to the proceedings.
Notable among the attendees was Iftekhar Shareef, the First Overseas Citizen of India, who presided as the chief guest. Shareef expressed his deep admiration for Mohammed Rafi’s unparalleled legacy and honored the performers for their outstanding tributes.
Prominent dignitaries included Mamadi Hari Krishna, Director of the Department of Language & Culture, Dr. Shujath Ali IIS (Retd.), former Joint Director of Doordarshan Chennai, Irfan Aziz, and Sarwat Ali, the event’s convenor.
