Hyderabad, March 23, 2024 – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has unveiled its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana’s Secunderabad constituency. T. Padmarao Goud, a stalwart representing the Secunderabad Assembly constituency for a fourth consecutive term, has been chosen to contest the prestigious seat.

BRS President and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao confirmed Goud’s candidature following extensive consultations with MLAs, grassroots leaders, and senior party members.

Padmarao Goud’s journey with the party traces back to the Telangana movement era. He has held pivotal roles, including serving as the Deputy Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2018. Goud’s political career soared when he was first elected to the Assembly of united Andhra Pradesh on the TRS (now BRS) ticket from Secunderabad in 2004. His consistent dedication to the constituency’s development earned him accolades within the party.

Amidst fervent deliberations led by KCR, Padmarao Goud emerged as the unanimous choice for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. He is poised to face stiff competition, notably from Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, G. Kishan Reddy, who seeks re-election from the same constituency.

In a strategic move, the Congress party has fielded former minister and sitting MLA Danam Nagender as its contender. Nagender’s recent switch to Congress from BRS adds an intriguing dynamic to the electoral landscape.

With this announcement, BRS’s candidate roster for the Telangana Lok Sabha seats expands, demonstrating the party’s proactive stance ahead of the elections. Stay tuned as the electoral battle for Secunderabad heats up, promising an enthralling contest.

In a parallel development, the electoral landscape in Secunderabad witnesses a new twist as Congress announces its candidate, Danam Nagender, to challenge BRS MLA Padmarao Goud for the coveted Lok Sabha seat. With political alliances shifting, the stage is set for a gripping three-way clash in the upcoming elections.
